It seems that the world government is bent on having another war they are trying to cause a position where there is no choice. The UN and US are running around pointing fingers at every one else and if my memory is correct the only country to use nuclear bumps is the US not only once but twice on a country who was surrendering. I guess when you have all this equipment for killing you just have to find a reason to use it
I think that the next world war will be critical to the survival or disappearance of the human race. Whether any force of the world will use nuclear weapons will decide our fate as a species. It's just like Albert Einstein once said, "I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones."
I like sticks and stones. I often think we'd be better off if we'd never progressed from there in the first place. Unfortunately, we wouldn't have all this other neat stuff we now have either. Nuts. Why can't we have it both ways?
Martin, I think the US had very good reason to drop nuclear bombs on Japan, although the fire bombs dropped on Tokyo killed more people than the nuclear bombs did. Japan wasn't about to surrender until the nuclear bombs were dropped.
The trouble with history it is written by the winners and you don't here the truth. On the night of March 9-10, 1945, a wave of 300 American bombers struck Tokyo, killing 100,000 people. Dropping nearly 1,700 tons of bombs, the war planes ravaged much of the capital city, completely burning out 16 square miles and destroying a quarter of a million structures. A million residents were left homeless. On May 23, eleven weeks later, came the greatest air raid of the Pacific War, when 520 giant B-29 "Superfortress" bombers unleashed 4,500 tons of incendiary bombs on the heart of the already battered Japanese capital. Generating gale-force winds, the exploding incendiaries obliterated Tokyo's commercial center and railway yards, and consumed the Ginza entertainment district. Two days later, on May 25, a second strike of 502 "Superfortress" planes roared low over Tokyo, raining down some 4,000 tons of explosives. Together these two B-29 raids destroyed 56 square miles of the Japanese capital. Even before the Hiroshima attack, American air force General Curtis LeMay boasted that American bombers were "driving them [Japanese] back to the stone age." Henry H. ("Hap") Arnold, commanding General of the Army air forces, declared in his 1949 memoirs: "It always appeared to us, atomic bomb or no atomic bomb, the Japanese were already on the verge of collapse." This was confirmed by former Japanese prime minister Fumimaro Konoye, who said: "Fundamentally, the thing that brought about the determination to make peace was the prolonged bombing by the B-29s.Japan already had been defeated militarily by June 1945 Japan tried to surrender in July to the Russians and was refused because the US wanted unconditional surrender. http://www.ihr.org/jhr/v16/v16n3p-4_Weber.html
I won't say that it was the only reason, but I suspect that the United States welcomed the chance to try out its new bomb on a human population.
I suspect one day we will fight someone who is loaded for bear similar to the way we are armed. The only ones I see on the horizon is China, unless Russia could align themselves with China or China should align themselves with Russia for the purpose of defeating the US. When that will be is somewhat above my pay grade.
There may not even need to be a next war. The BRICS bank has been set up, representing Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. They will be using that currency as a way to replace the US dollar and the international money fund. If our money system collapses, the whole United States will collapse, and we would be easy for the combined efforts of Russia and China to take over America. http://rt.com/business/270880-china-ratification-brics-bank/
We can't always progress in a good way; sometimes we have to take a step sideways or even backwards in order to appreciate how far we've come. Also, I rest assured, even if we would have only one stone on the whole Earth, and absolutely nothing else, mankind would still find a way to fight wars using that one stone. It's in our nature.
Well, unfortunately this is all true. When I was in school studying history guess what these things weren't included when we studied WWII. It wasn't till years later when I was doing a report in High school that I found out about some of this. The thing about WWII is it was a very ugly war. There were no real good guys here. Everyone got ugly and did some ugly things. Maybe some could say it was for sake of survival but many innocent people lost their lives in the crossfire. I don't see WWIII fairing up any better, no it will definitely be a wholel lot worse with the weaponery we now have at our disposal. The thing about war and its a hard pill to swallow there are no real winners, just a whole lot of devestation and trying to heal after the fact if we can.
In olden days the king led the troupes or at least on the battle field. Now the people who are behind the war are hiding in a bunker wanting the solders [poor people] kill people who they don't know for the rich hiding in the bunkers. Having this group of elites starting wars on lies [ Vietnam, Libya, Iraq, Afghanistan and more] and trying to bump people back into the stone age. The only thing to gain is to make more poor and cheap labor maybe this is what they want.
No argument there. Mankind would definitely find a way to wage war with only one stone, but it would still be with only one stone. Not saying that stones can't do damage, but hey! Given the choice between them and what we have now, I'd take the stones. I'm not saying we should get rid of what we have, either. I don't think there's any way to do that. Neither am I for gun control or disarming the populace. I just wish sometimes that it hadn't been inevitable for mankind to go down this particular road. (Wish in one hand and spit in the other.) Good point, Yvonne. But I think there would still be wars. There just wouldn't be a USA.
Of course I am praying that the nuclear war would not happen. But I am not very confident about it. In our elementary years, our history teacher told us the value of war vis-a-vis the economy. She said that war is actually a business that boosts the economy but that would depend on where you are sitting. For the losers, of course, it is a disaster but for the victors, there is the spoils. War creates not only business but also inventions. In fact, the internet is a by-product of the military strategists - they needed to have a direct communication with their bases situated in other countries. Products such as weapons and ammunitions, tents, uniform and other things needed in war become the fashion. But in all those what I just said, I am not sure if they would still be relevant in the event of a nuclear war.
I think that we will not likely have a nuclear war, even though we (and other countries) posture with our nuclear warheads. Bombs destroy land, buildings, and even the air that we breathe. Even though Russia or China might want to take over and control the USA, they do not want to destroy it in the process. A chunk of land as large as we have here would be a great waste of some of the best property in the world if it were destroyed. I think they are more apt to hit us with an EMP or cut our cable lines so that the internet does not work, and cripple the economy and also put most of our technology back 100 years. We have been having important wi-fi cables cut in places where it puts the main companies that carry the internet out of commission. Just last week; three cables in California were cut , and it affected internet all across the US. The people who cut the cable had to get deep into and underground vault to do this; so they knew exactly what they were doing. A few people like this, strategically placed around the country could put the whole United States offline. No banks, no communication, and some peopel could not even get into their homes since everything is operated remotely by wi-fi. http://www.businessinsider.com/california-internet-cables-in-underground-vault-cut-in-attack-2015-7
I don't think that it's the stone's fault. Or technology's, for that matter. This is clearly an issue with us. It's in our human nature to always fight, to always disagree with each other. Just look at the terrorists and the people saying that all muslims are terrorists. They are both moral criminals, abusing their holy books as a justification of killing innocents.
