Yep ...especially if you tell everyone your full address........Cody, I agreee you have to be a bit careful..but you can go completely the other way and be too cautious ...I show the inside of my house..the odd room, or the outside ..not the whole house, but unless someone knows your address, then who is going to do anything with the photo you've posted of a random room in your house...just don't go showing your safe..or your jewellery...or maybe you could just show a room with your Guns ..lol

@Von Jones , where do you get your rocks? Around here you would pay more for a hand sized rocks than you would for the plants. I've always wished I knew a truck driver who would bring me rocks from different places. I was lucky enough to find some old 9"X15" retrangular sandstone bricks on my property about a year after we bought it. I look forward to the pictures of your upcoming gaedening efforts.

@Chris Ladewig thank you. It is a work in progress that I really enjoy doing. Even when I'm out there gardening I take time just to enjoy it all and listening to all the different types of bird songs and the rustle of the leaves as the squirrels chase each other. It gets very shady in the afternoon.

@Ina I. Wonder. All the rocks were here when we bought the house. There were lots of them. It seems like every time I shovel I find more rocks. Most of them were buried in a section of the backyard I believe to prevent dirt from covering the sidewalk that leads to the alley way. That section of the yard is where I had my dogs and now I use mostly for DIY projects.

I, too, am trying to create an urban country setting that I can escape to when I need it; my own little sanctuary. Fortunately, my neighbor across the street is a school teacher who has a lawn business on the side. He brings me trees and shrubs as he finds them. My yard, like yours, is a work in progress. My sanctuary looks better than last summer and next summer it will look better than this summer.

Great pictures, y'all. I don't have much to take pictures of, other than my few plants on the balcony. Eventually, I might have some, though, and now I have a place to post them. I post my random pictures in the Out My Window thread (or similar name) and sometimes in the Good Morning thread, but it's nice to see groupings of them, so you can get a better idea of what the place looks like. I agree, it's best to be cautious. You can remove some of the personal information if you right click on the pictures and choose Properties. It'll make a copy of your picture without the identifying information. I usually do that, but if I'm in a hurry, sometimes I don't. I figure anyone seeking someone out to stalk, harm, etc. deserves what they get. I'm looking forward to seeing more pictures. I love moonflowers, it's one I've always wanted, but don't have yet.

The Jerualem artichokes (sunchokes) are getting taller, and are now 3-4 feeet tall. Next month they should start blooming, and the front of the house will be almost hidden once the sunchokes areach 5-6 tall and start with thier profuse flowering.
They are in the sunflower family, but are perennial, and have edible tubers at the bottom like potatoes do, only not quite as large.
Thiss year, I will dig up ssome of thee tuber to try eating them, and transplant some to other parts of the yard since they do make an interesting privacy screen as they grow and spread.

This is actually not a good view of our front yard garden but I want to share it just the same. The dilapidated barrier made of concrete balusters were removed so it will be open until we find new balusters. I have posted this because we were surprised to know that they are not making concrete balusters anymore. The only manufacturer that exists near our place is about 15 miles away (think of the traffic, oh no). This concrete garden is actually the toilet of our dogs, they go straight here when they are let loose from the house.

If you will notice the blue rubber pot, it is holding our star fruit which gave us big and sweet fruits in the last season. To the left of the star fruit is the orchid bar which carries the dragon fruit. And if you care to know, the camera is located in the driveway.

Very pretty @Von Jones, you have a nice variety of flowers/plants.

@Corie Henson Is the camera fixed, and for security? It seems some of the homeowners here have installed security cameras, I guess to discourage the hoodlums who like to trespass and steal things. it's good that your dogs have their own place and know it's always available.

I did some yard work yesterday, sprayed for weeds out front in the yard and ditch, as well as the backyard. I will be spraying later or next week for bugs, there's concern here about the mosquitoes. They're starting to bother me up on the balcony, which hasn't happened in a while, and the neighborhood hasn't sprayed in a while, so I guess it's my job now.

@Diane Lane, that picture was not from a cctv camera. I was in the driveway and holding the camera. Our property is secured by a fence and you can see the blue iron grill in the picture. We don't have a cctv yet for security but we are well aware of the risk of intruders, some are petty intruders who would steal anything of value, even an empty bucket, huh. But what worries us is the kind of intruder who steals and even kills. Our security for now are the night lights that we leave open - one in the garage and another in the driveway, the terrace light, the backyard light and our bedroom light which remain switched on during the entire night.

With the removal of the old balusters which divides the concrete garden and the driveway, our dogs were wary at first but now they jump on the divider which is now low for their convenience.

@Corie Henson It was just the wording that made me think it was mounted in the driveway. Some here have them on each corner of their property. I would love to have night vision cameras mounted here, but mainly so I could see the deer and other critters walking by. However, I would also use them for surveillance of thieves if need be. I'd like to get some motion activated lights eventually, as well. A neighbor actually disengaged hers, because the small creatures (coons, possums, armadillo, etc.) were setting them off so frequently. Does the removal of the balusters mean the yard is less secure? Some people here have the high privacy fences, which is what I have around the yard, but as I've mentioned elsewhere, they're not in the greatest shape. Some have chain link fences instead, and others have nothing. It's just a matter of preference. We have the thieves here, as well. Mostly, they're kids trying to come up with money for the things they want to buy, but some are also professionals stealing yard equipment, golf carts, etc.

@Diane Lane, the baluster is just a decorative barrier that divides the concrete garden and the driveway. No, it is not related to security. But since you mentioned CCTV, I am not contemplating on bringing up the subject to my husband again. We already had plans before but did not pursue because of the cost. But now I know that CCTV systems are quite cheap and easier to install. There's actually a do-it-yourself installation as per the advertisement of one CCTV brand. And like you, maybe we can capture some creatures with the 24/7 camera but I think it would mostly be toads.

Oh o.k., I thought it was a barrier, like a concrete wall. There have been some crimes solved locally (next towns over) by the use of pictures or videos taken from/with CCTVs. Usually the quality is poor, but some people have money for top of the line systems, and it's amazing, like watching a television show or movie, and those are the perpetrators who are often caught. The footage/pictures are usually turned over to the police, and they post them on the news, as well as social media. You're right, the systems have definitely come down in price. Unfortunately, they're still out of my price range, but i still dream about having one someday :). For now, we don't have the level of crime seen in the next few towns over (closer to Houston), but it does seem to be encroaching on this area.

IMG_1813.JPG We have suffered another nasty storm in the last couple of days ,we were without power for 12 hours and here is a link to show why ..http://www.abc.net.au/news/2016-09-29/transmission-tower-bent-over-in-south-australia/7890674..

Here is a photo I took today of the street where I live ,we are in spring but we must be mistaken :p:D because it was 10c today ..it's more like the middle of winter than spring ..it should be in mid 20's somehow I think the weather man forgot our spring and summer :p:Dand plunged us back in mid winter ..The photo of the area is normally dry ,it's designed to catch storm water which runs out to sea not far from the catchment area ..The local council has been here several times today pumping water out as it couldn't get away quick enough to prevent flooding ( We live in the driest state in Australia ) so this type of wet weather is very unusual for us.We have exceeded double the normal rainfall this year ..
I took this at lunch time 12 noon it but it looks more like evening ..

A couple of areas are graced with these tall flowers in my backyard. I planted only four last year and these two areas have become my vocal point this year. I'm excited to see the effect once they are all in bloom. Now the tiny flowers look like snowflakes. These are the photos 1-3.

Amongst the hosta patch are two either Everlastings or Forever plants I'm not sure which.

The honeysuckle trees are transforming showing the red berries. The squirrels stay away from these, I wonder why.
