Sure. I had some near and dear friends, as a teenager, yet I never kept in contact with any of them. Nor, did I ever attend any high school reunions. I do not really have any profound reasons for not going. It just simply did not interest me. I cherish the memories and sometimes share funny stories, but I leave it at that. Maybe, if I had stayed in my hometown?

If you have ever gone to one of these reunions, did you enjoy yourself? Were you happy that you reconnected with your old friends. Or do you think old acquaintances should remain in the past as memories?

My sister, who is two yeard older than I am, attended the same high school as I did and she has been to a reunion, but when we are together we never talk much about those times.

My memories of those times are not good ones and I have had no contact with any of my classmates since then. Most of them went on to attend college or university. I had to go out to work the week after finishing my high school education.

I do think about my teachers quite often. I think most of them will have died long ago as some were approaching retirement age at the time. There was one teacher I loved very much and I shall never forget her. Others were rather strange and not all of them were good communicators.

I never went to a reunion until the 50th. I called one of my best friends in high school who I hadn't kept in touch with. We went to the 50th reunion and also got in touch with other old friends. I had a great time, I'm glad I went.

I went to my 5 year reunion. It was fun, but there were a lot of people who weren't happy with their situations, and tended to blame it on others. Several of the guys I'd gone to school with had gotten girls pregnant, and married them. They whined during the reunion about how they wish they hadn't done so, what else they could be doing, and how they weren't happy with their wives or married lives. I'm not one to mince words, and told them the girls didn't get themselves pregnant, and they (the guys) had played a big part in it, and they shouldn't blame the women/girls, and were blessed to have their child(ren). I have no patience for that.

Other than those people, everyone was nice and a lot more people remembered me than I remembered, for some reason. I guess because I had moved away, and had whole new groups of people to interact with and wasn't quite as focused on the past. After that, my close friends I'd gone to school with and I weren't as close, since we had different types of life experiences, so we didn't get together for the reunions as we had for that one. I'd have to travel across the country at that time of year for other reunions, which would be expensive, so I haven't been to one since.

I have never been to a class reunion; but I would love to go to one if I could. I live way too far away to go now, and when I did live close enough, I just did not have the ability to go, and most of the time I didn't even know when they did have the reunions.
Except for a very few close friends from school; I have not kept in touch with anyone from my school days.

Still, I think that after all of these years, it would be fun to see them all again and hear some of the stories that they have to tell about their lives.

@Yvonne Smith Have you tried looking them up on Facebook? I don't know if Classmates.com charges or not, but you'd probably find out at least as much on Facebook. You could look up a few familiar names, or try the school name. It probably has a Facebook page, and people will probably have themselves tagged there.

The last class reunion I went to was sad for me. I was informed a friend that I had been in contact with for sometime had been committed to a nursing home and was in serious decline, he has since died. I did not enjoy myself as much as I had hoped to when I made the plans to go. I also attended the after funeral gathering of an aunt that pasted just before the reunion. I will not be going to any more reunions.

No, I have missed every one of mine, but I am hoping to be able to make it to my 50th year reunion in 2019.

Sorry to hear about your last experience at a class reunion, Pat. Maybe this is why I have never gone to one or plan to in the future. I think, my memories of the past are enough for me. Of course, I can understand that others enjoy reconnecting.

I brought this whole subject up because my husband wanted to reconnect with his best childhood friend recently, actually the best man at our wedding, too. Afterwards, it was a big disappointment for him. They had both changed and no longer had much in common.

Yet after reading these posts, I "might think" about us going to our 50th. After all people do change and not actually looking to become best friends with anyone anymore just a fun night of reminiscing. I shall give it "some consideration".

I guess it would be fun to attend a high school reunion considering that our school was an all-girls school. But I am in touch with some of my high school classmates in social media. But with my close friends in school, we would see each other at least once a year aside from the social media connection. But if ever we would have a reunion, I hope to have an advance notice of about 2 months so I could embark on a crash program to lose weight. Hahahaaa.

I have never gone to a class reunion and really don't care to. My high school class was categorized - jocks, socialites, or just plain square - guess which one I fit into. I believed I was just different from every one else by not having any thing in common with them. I've said this before in another post but many remember me that I thought would never have noticed me in high school.

Besides whenever I see someone they always fill me in with what they know or heard. It always starts off with "Do you remember so and so....?" Never ask me about me kinds of reminds me of when I was in high school.o_O

I have not, but I have been getting emails and postcards from some high school that I never went to about attending a high school reunion! I have NO idea how they got my name and address, let alone my email but they keep sending me stuff asking me if to get in touch with them to tell them whether I am coming or not. I never even lived at all close to the town where this high school is located so it is really bizarre that they think I went to their high school.

No, I never went to any of my high school reunions. For several reasons, but mainly because I lived too far away. My high school graduating class had a huge amount of people -- more than 650. I was close to a few friends, and that was that. I lost touch with everyone, because I moved thousands of miles away after high school, and my life as a teenager became a distant memory.

At age 13, I started dating a boy who lived in another part of the town, so his school and mine were not the same -- they were competitors in sports -- and because I didn't date the guys at my school, I was not involved in any social events that took place at my school. I dated him from age 13 until I graduated from high school. He was two years older than me. When I graduated, he had enlisted in the service, so we lost touch for a whole bunch of years, but that's another story!

A few years ago, I started getting invites through my email. I don't know how the organizers found me -- but that's a moot point. I politely declined. I had no interest in hanging out for a weekend with people I barely knew, or recognized. Which is funny, because I'm not a hermit and I'm an extrovert!

Just one. The only ones there were the classmates I didn't like or get along with in school. After I arrived, I found things the same. I still didn't like or get along with them. I only stayed a few minutes.

I went to my 20 yr. one in 1988. It was nice. I was totally amazed at how much weight a Varsity Basketball player that I knew had put on. We had one at 41 years and another a few years later, but I didn't attend either. Part of my wife's family was getting together that weekend and seeing family again was more important to me that going to the Reunion. Anyway, a number of us are on Facebook, we see what others are up to.

My BIL didn't want to go to any of his high school reunions. He told me, "I want to remember these people the way they looked when we graduated, not the way they look now......including me."
