Supposedly the neighbor went in and saw them 'sleeping' and left, then returned a few hours later and realized they were dead. No doubt the neighbor was familiar with the couple's lifestyle, and that they apparently used and sold drugs, as well as that their two young children were recently removed from the home by CPS. There is a definite drug epidemic in this country, and for some reason, many young people seem to feel that dealing and using drugs are an acceptable lifestyle. The husband was 28, and had a criminal history going back 10 years. The wife was 20. The police found a large amount of marijuana on the table, divided up as if for sale. Drug paraphernalia was also found in the apartment, and there were no signs of forced entry. I don't know what these young people are thinking. I do think that an entertainment industry that seems to accept and at least tacitly approve of drug use and this type of lifestyle is at least partly responsible for this epidemic. For some reason I couldn't open the page. Anyway, it's probably similar to hundreds of other stories I read about young couples overdosing. I know drugs are an epidemic but why so many overdoses? Intentional? Accident? Bad drugs? I did read something about narcan be available to drug users but who will give it to them in cases like this?
I fixed the link. It's on the main Yahoo page today. No idea why it didn't work, but I sometimes do have issues with Yahoo. I don't know for sure if it was overdoses, but reportedly, there was no sign of trauma. They're doing autopsies and toxicology studies. Who knows, maybe it was intentional, since the kids were taken recently, or perhaps they were ripping someone off and were given some bad drugs as a result.
Yes, I found that troublesome, as well. I think that neighbor was probably aware that they sold and used drugs. That person was probably a customer who came by to buy/get some drugs and wasn't sure how to handle the situation. Maybe they hoped to come back later and find the couple o.k., and that the situation would resolve itself, but that wasn't the case. Either the apartment was usually left unlocked, or that neighbor had a key. The apartment's probably a nightmare of fingerprints and DNA. I guess if there's no foul play found, that probably won't be an issue, but I'll bet a lot of people are nervous. If they were splitting up and selling a pound of pot, I'm sure they have a pretty wide circle of acquaintances.
Yep, I bet that person is being questioned extensively too and might talk if she's in need of a fix. So sad too, nice looking couple in the pic but the hubby already looked kind of like a drug user in the pic with the baby but that's just my opinion.
Yeah, I thought they both looked like dope fiends in the pic. I see a lot of that on Facebook, even in the neighborhood group. It's a shame that these people throw away their lives on this crap and set their kids up for failure and a lifetime of potential issues.
Yep, I agree and wonder what the future holds? I was just thinking too, I never read or hear any updates from all these stories in the news...and I'd like to, don't know if it's because I don't follow up or it's not mentioned.
It's sad to learn of drug cases involving couples especially when they have children. Like the case in this thread, both husband and wife are dead. What happens to their children? If the couple is into selling marijuana for business maybe their supplier has an involvement. That's the usual scenario here - the vendors are killed by their boss.
Many times, there is no follow up @Chrissy Page. I've tweeted news stations asking for updates in the past. They're usually ignored. I've Facebooked the same, with little response. It seems the stories are eye catching at first, and garner clicks and views, but then the press is off on the next tangent, chasing the next big headline, with little regard to content or follow up. In this case @Corie Henson the children had already been removed from the custody of the parents. There probably would have been years of going back and forth, with the kids being in foster care or placed with relatives, while the parents fought the case, and took some parenting classes to show they'd changed, and then the kids would have been placed back in the home, until the next time. It's usually a cycle with these types, and ultimately, they lose the kids, or something bad happens. Maybe this was a blessing for the children. No updates that I've seen @Chrissy Page. I'm sure the police are working on it, and toxicology tests can take quite a while.
Is this the story that was in the news a couple of days ago? I heard about a couple who had presumably overdosed and died. I didn't realize that they had children. It is really sad and tragic to hear about things like this. Just locally here a day or two ago, they arrested a dad who used heroin with his kids in the car. I mean these are just the people who come to the attention of the police. How many times does this happen and no one knows about it or cares about it? it is really frightening to think about.
If you still do not know, killing of people related to illegal drugs is an everyday affair here. One journalist said that the number of widows are growing because of the killing - to mean most of those killed are husbands who sell drugs for a living. With or without concrete evidence, suspected drug dealers are killed by the cops or by vigilantes (unidentified killers) thereby leaving orphans most of the time. And what happens to the children? I cannot answer that.
