Miscommunication: I would say at least 50% of the time....and when you can't see the body language...75% of the time!
The world's full of people who do not understand me. Especially my husband ha ha. He is gorgeous by the way
What we all need is someone to listen, really listen to us. If we all spent more time listening and less time talking, we could communicate a lot better. Y'all hear me now?????
I was just reading about how LISTENING is the most important part of communication! Thanks, Shirl! I hear you! Skill 1: Become an engaged listener "People often focus on what they should say, but effective communication is less about talking and more about listening. Listening well means not just understanding the words or the information being communicated, but also understanding the emotions the speaker is trying to communicate". "There’s a big difference between engaged listening and simply hearing. When you really listen—when you’re engaged with what’s being said—you’ll hear the subtle intonations in someone’s voice that tell you how that person is feeling and the emotions they’re trying to communicate. When you’re an engaged listener, not only will you better understand the other person, you’ll also make that person feel heard and understood, which can help build a stronger, deeper connection between you". "By communicating in this way, you’ll also experience a process that lowers stress and supports physical and emotional well-being. If the person you’re talking to is calm, for example, listening in an engaged way will help to calm you, too. Similarly, if the person is agitated, you can help calm them by listening in an attentive way and making the person feel understood".
Listening is not going to work here on this Forum....as @Ken Anderson wants us to talk and discuss more with each other.
I have an apparently different way of thinking and sometimes it's difficult to convey my thoughts in the manner I'm thinking them. In trying I can often become overly verbose further complicating intent. So when I go on it becomes somewhat convoluted. The written word is less descriptive of expressing a position than a verbal communique. So all we can do is make the attempt and hope the reader is smart enough to fathom something of the intent in our posts and avoid a knee jerk conclusion. ?
Agree !! And, sometimes you don't communicate at all - so, did you like the Churchill drama Kalvin ? @Kalvin Mitnic
Ha ha...Pickles lets me know his bowl is empty by giving it a good push with his snout. I can hear his ceramic bowl on the tile floor all the way at the other end of the house. I'm surprised it hasn't broken yet.
