How much of a "sense of humor" do you have?
Seems to us, wife/I, that we run into some people, our age and somewhat older, who simply don't have a good "sense of humor".

My wife has loved my "sense of humor" since meeting me. I can mix some (sometimes too much) sarcasm into my humor. Depending on who I'm talking to, I can come across as "belligerent" and "loud-mouthed", but wife sure doesn't see me in that way. I make her laugh and she has told me numerous times, "never a dull moment in our home".

I remember a couple of years ago, I stopped by our apt. complex pool to see who was there and see how the water was (it's an outside pool). I started talking to a young, 30ish, girl about the upcoming Halloween night and that I was going to be Darth Vader and my wife was going to be Princess Leia. I told this girl, "actually my wife isn't going to be Princess Leia, she will be more like Princess Leia's mother". The girl looked at me and said, "that's not nice to talk about your wife like that". In trying to de-fuse the insult, that she was thinking I was saying about my wife, I said "well, I will be Darth Vader's father!" She just looked at me and I then left. I went back to our apartment and told my wife what had just happened and we both laughed our butts off. I don't know what we were laughing more about the "mother/father thing" that I had said or how the girl took it.

Another thing about us, we love watching comedy shows on tv, like: Last Comic Standing, The Carmichaels and Last Man Standing. We watch movies like, Grownups, Get Smart among others.

In other words, we absolutely love good humor!

My family always loved a good laugh, but our humor runs more to mild practical jokes. When I was still in school, my dad worked at a sash and door plant. Mom always prepared his lunch the night before and put it in the refrigerator. For some weeks she had been including some Oreo cookies in his lunch. Then came April 1st. Dad came home from work, looked at mom and started laughing. She had replaced the frosting between the cookies with white cardboard.

When I was a wee snot, dad gave me a peach pit telling me if I planted and watered it a peach tree would grow. He watched me as I watered the buried pit each morning. After about a week, I went to water my pit and found a tree about a foot high. I ran back inside all excited, to show my dad. He came out, looked at it, then pulled it out. It was just a twig off a tree that dad stuck in the ground.
When I was dating I found the big gals had the best sense of humor.

I think my sense of humor has decreased with the time, or it might simply be an increasing intolerance what makes me feel my sense of humor is not the same :\

I think my sense of humor is good as my sense of what is funny and what is not is different from the other people in my house. My tolerance of other people has improved slightly over the years.

You gave me a laugh with your comment, hahahaaa.

My husband has a good sense of humor. He rocks, so to speak. But no one know about those quality except me. Get it? Probably you didn't understand. In time, he seemed to have developed a sense of humor and he had greatly changed from the poker face and serious guy to one who enjoys jokes. I remember in the office one time (he was not my husband, not even a boyfriend) his face looked so serious in reading something. I was really surprised to see what he was reading... the comic strip of the newspaper.

Now, he would regularly post in Facebook his funny pictures and humorous captions that he had already built a legion of followers. Former colleagues would sometimes remark that my husband may be another person. They couldn't come to terms with the new funny man who was a grouch before.

I am the proverbial fool. I try to find humor in any situation I can, when I was a child I liked when I could make people laugh. Sometimes it was quite by accident. I have what some might call a dry sense of humor. Funny stuff falls out of me at the moment that people might least expect. Working with people in a large community I have no shortage of the obscure insanity that is actually down right funny when you think about it. People truly do say the silliest things.

I think there is nothing funnier then a good laugh. I believe if more people took a moment to step back and really look at life from a different perspective they would see it doesn't have to be so darn serious every second day in day out. With that being said I think Hollywood has been failing us in the laugh department. It seems more and more these days that comedy is based on a certain level of base crassness. I don't think it needs to be that way. If you think about some of the past funniest people in show biz, they might have hinted at things like sexuality but they didn't go to the point of totally becoming down right pornographic about it. Benny Hill was a hoot, so was Carol Burnett. Both of these comedians used subtle sexual reference yet it still was pretty tame by todays standards,

Well, unfortunately, the person who tells the joke or is just "joking around/kidding around" doesn't know how the person who is listening will take it. Some people have serious things going on in their lives that the person being humorous doesn't know about and so the "straight face" or "poker face" is shown. Others just don't get the humor in some things. My SIL is like that. Like herself, her friends really don't have much (if any) sense of humor. I can tell this by what they write on Facebook. Now, my BIL is like me. In fact, my wife was totally stunned at how her brother and I got along when we first met. Sometimes, a person can tell who has/who hasn't a "sense of humor" if they never smile when getting their picture taken. My wife's sister's husband is exactly that way. I haven't got one single photo, with him in it, of him smiling! And, believe me, he doesn't have a good (or any) sense of humor! Nice guy, but just don't joke around with him.

Shoot, at my last job, I would joke around sometimes and some people thought it was strange that a man my age would be that way. I actually heard, "will he ever grow up" one time as I was going back to my office. Didn't say a thing, just went back to my office and chuckled to myself.

@Cody Fousnaugh have you ever met a person that has the knack of taking comedy to an entirely different level? I have such a person in my own family, my son. Recently he went to a wedding, there was a guy working there that is his friend and they were talking like friends do.. catching up and all. My son notices they have to wear this terrible looking black chef hat, his friend invites him for a smoke and my son declines and says, "hey can I borrow your hat?" This is when hilarity ensued... he puts on this hat, and because he is already wearing black he becomes the "Gormett" donning a ridiculous swedish accent he goes into the wedding in the next ball room announces he is the gormett and is there to refill the M&M's (evidently they had like a candy table) but just the yellow ones because the green ones were bad and he takes the whole bowl and walks into the kitchen at which point this woman instructs him to go slice this roast for the guests. Now right about now my son is dying because he is actually getting away with this and goes out to slice up this roast at which this point the "gormett" becomes somewhat Soup Nazis-esk informing people they would not get fat because they were to big already and things to that effect. This went on for sometime before his friend asked him what the heck he was doing and took his hat back. I wish I could say this was an isolated instance but this seems to happen quite often. My son was telling me that at his new job which he has been at now only three days he was mistaken for a maintenance person and ordered to do something with these large carts that move the product. Of which he gleefully helped with the task even though he did not work in that department and had no idea what was suppose to be done. No doubt there was some hilarity that I have not yet heard about there.

:oops:Well everyone's different and so is their sense of humor. Some people have good days and bad days. I kind of look at a person if a stranger and see where their attitude is for the moment. Some people just can't be bothered with anything or anyone for the moment and it's best to pass it by. Some people have a ready smile on their face and they can be approached if necessary. These days many are stressed too so I try to see if the person is approachable or not first especially if they are a stranger to be careful and sure. Some people just don't have a sense of humor too.

You smile. I smile. That's how it works. It's the one thing that will get us through life.
If you don't think I have a sense of humor then tell me so I can laugh at you…..(heehee, joking)

Always valued my sense of humor highly. Lots of people tell me it's the only sense I have.
When I was a junior in high school, it was near the end of the school year. The senior class was graduating. Part of the fun activities included a bequeathment or the passing on of some trait to us juniors. A tall, black senior left me his ability to laugh under any circumstances. He said he saw me always laughing at something, much like himself, and knew I would carry on the tradition. I think I go to extremes at times.

It's been my observation that people who lack a sense of humor are sorely lacking the common kind too.
