Still enjoying more energy and alertness and I have been off my prilosec for my GERD for over a week with no problems. I think my yogurt smoothies have helped with my GERD problem too, but I have been on medication for this problem for years and years....and just not having to take anything for over a week is a real blessing to me.
Can any of you take the normal dosage of medications or are you sensitive to them? I ask because I have just recently purchased coconut oil but I'm undecided about how much to use. I am sensitive to medications and usually have to take just a fraction of the prescribed dosage or else I have side effects from taking too much. I thought I would start out with just a teaspoon a day and see how I do with it before I try to take more. I was just wondering if any of you are like this and if you are, how much are you able to take?
I think that this is a good way to start out with using coconut oil, @Denise Richardson . Since the coconut oil will help clean poisons/toxins out of your body, the toxins can have side effects if too many of them come out at one time. Most of the foods that help remove toxins can do this, like Vitamin C and also kefir; so you might feel a little nauseated, or loose stools if it is cleaning out a lot of toxins. It is good to get the poisons out of our system, and usually after a few days, any symptoms go away as your body cleans itself up. The coconut oil itself should not make you sick; but if you start with a small spoonful and then increase, you can find what you tolerate best and what amount makes you feel better.
I started with a smaller dose at first @Denise Richardson and the first day I had a headache but the next day I didn't and I have stayed at about a teaspoon for about 3 weeks now and that seems to work for me.
I find that coconut oil is helping a rash on my right elbow. My doctor says it is linked to the Rheumatoid Arthritis I have. I've had this rash several years, and it never goes away. It flares up whenever the RA does, and it can be very painful. I've tried Neosporin, hydrocortisone creams, and moisturizers. The other day, I got some of the coconut oil on my fingers just as the rash started it's burning and cracked feeling cycle. So of course I rubbed the oil on my fingers onto my elbow. It helped, and the next day I didn't even notice the rash. I hoping the coconut oil will allow me get the rash under some sort of control.
I want to try it as a moisturizer for my face as I have really sensitive skin there that reacts to almost every moisturizer I have bought. I don't want to try it on my face though until all the health issues stress in my life is calmed down. I definitely know it has helped me have more energy and alertness, it has helped my GERD because I am going on the 4th week without any Prilosec and only having to take one dose of Mylanta liquid a day or two out of the past 3 weeks. If it does nothing else for me besides this...I will be totally happy with this.
I started with one teaspoon a day yesterday. I will give it time before I increase it if I do. I learned a long time ago to take it slow and easy. Thanks to those who responded to my questions.
I just watched this little video, and it is so funny and makes SO much sense, and I just had to share it with everyone. He makes the point about coconut oil; but this could probably be equally true of other foods the government promotes as healthy.
Wow, I haven't known some relevant uses of coconut oil since I read the posts here.Thank you for your great ideas guys.
A very good video and I agree with some of what was said. I don't think American agriculture is the total reason the AHA promotes vegetable oil, but there is SOME truth to that. I think much of what is said about dietary fats is hogwash. I think ALL fats except trans-fats have nutritional value. The American medical establishment thinks they are logical. Therefore, since atherosclerotic plaque has cholesterol in it, it must be CAUSED by cholesterol in the diet and bloodstream, right? The dietary aspect has since been definitively been proven false, and the blood measurement (total cholesterol level) would be proven false as well were not statin sales are tied to the myth. There was a short book on the "Paleo Diet" that was written by a dietician that claimed that all fats are good, and almost all carbs are bad. The "Paleo Diet" title was stolen by a doctor (that made it more credible to the uninformed), and he changed it into another of the high protein, Atkins-type diets that would sell more books. I lent my copy of the original book to a friend and he never returned it, and I can no longer find it for sale. In any case, the dietician claimed we should eat more fats, not less, and the less refined the better. Coconut and other nut oils would fall under this umbrella. Fish oil has been proven to be very healthy, as has olive oil. Coconut oil will eventually follow. People on the ORIGINAL heart-healthy diet die from heart disease at a higher rate than those on "regular" diets, and their rate of type-2 diabetes has risen significant as well.
... A decade or two decades ago, the websites - medical AND scientific ones, IN India, published DETAILED scientific explanations of the differences in the oils, and how and why some oils destroyed viruses and bacteria or pathogens better than any drug .... apparently the pathogens NEVER develop resistance to the temperature in the sun NOR to c*****&& oil .... Even the less expensive models are very successful - easy to use, smooth and safe if someone is not allergic.... Like Yvonne posted, be aware to start with a small amount, because the dead matter/ pathogens/ etc/ can overwhelm the blood stream / kidneys , as the good effects of the oil result in the pathogens being broken/ destroyed/ by the body's immune system and defenses. It is a very very nice surprise when people start to get healthier than they ever thought they could be, since the american system promotes and defends disease producing methods, foods, toxins, and so on - sick has become what people think is "NORMAL" !? It never should have been allowed.... but free will is permitted, and people are not naturally good at all.... no, de' are berry berry bad .... so the leaders most everyplace show daily....
It is possible many people were able naturally and safely to reverse diabetes , "lose the diagnosis" , in a couple weeks to a couple years after starting coconut oil, along with other natural changes they find as they learn. Under proper quidance, they are able to reduce and then eliminate drugs, verified by testing. Searching for and finding someone experienced in such matters does help a lot to answer questions and handle anything unexpected or unknown as it comes up during healing over days, weeks or years.
I always forget how much energy that I have and how good I feel when I add the coconut oil into my morning coffee ! It is a procedure to make it, because you have to add the oil to hot coffee with cream and then blend it good in a blender until the coconut oil is mixed in, or the oil just floats on top, which is yucky to drink. I usually blend half of the mug of coffee and then add more hot coffee to the mug to warm it back up again. Eventually, I get lazy and stop doing it every day, and pretty soon, I am not doing it at all. So, I was reading again how good coconut oil is for the brain, clear thinking, and more energy, and today i got out the blender and made the coconut version of Bulletproof Coffee. Then, we headed for the fitness center. Since I am doing intermittent fasting, I didn’t want to actually eat anything until after I did my swimming; so I swam for the hour on an empty stomach, but felt great, lots of energy, and wasn’t feeling any hunger pangs either. I think that I will make more coffee in the mornings, and blend in the coconut oil, and then I can use it for iced coffee later in the day when it is hot.
