OK... We are off early tomorrow morning (Sunday) for Sault Ste. Marie.. My appointment is on Monday at noon to make arrangements for the operation which will be just a few weeks after the appointment.. We will be spending an extra day there just to get some R&R.. We are coming back home late on Tuesday .. Sault Ste. Marie is about a 3 hour drive west from our house.. There is NO snow in the forecast but it will be a bit nippy.. tonight the temperature is supposed to be -38c... The next few days will be sunny but cold... I will let you know what is going on when I return on Tuesday night.. So far, the pain is getting worse to the point that I have trouble sleeping for more than 2 or 3 hours at a time.. I am taking Oxycodone pain killers but they are not working as good as I would like and they make me constipated like crazy.. I will put up with it as long as I have to but I am hoping that within the next few weeks to have the shoulder replaced..
@Steve North -38C?? Holy Toledo. Is that <0 F? I shiver thinking of it. Cold is one thing, but seriously detrimental weather (snow, wind, dangerous conditions) are another. In my case, lately my right shoulder joint hurts like hell at times inexplainable to outside conditions, as when sitting in my recliner. OTOH, today I used the shoulder fairly vigorously during various activities and it only balked once or twice, in the form of extreme pain. I fear (deeply), visiting my doc who will likely suggest a 6-inch long needle.......I cannot stand even tiny needles. Psychological wimp, I guess. Best wishes to you for good outcome....\ Frank
Frank.. work it out in F from C.. You will be surprised.... At the -40c mark it is the same as F which is -40F... how do you come to <0 is beyond me.. How I wish it was that warm.. We will get that in the end of April... Could it be the same problem that I have with my shoulder?? I have bone on bone in the ball and socket of my shoulder.. I had a cortisone shot on the 1st of December but it didn't work for long.. It wasn't painful at all having the needle inserted.. Actually I felt absolutely nothing as they seem to freeze it as it goes in.. Thanks everyone for the good wishes.. I'M OFF !!!!!
Just to let you know, Steve, I've had two rotator cuff surgeries, one on each shoulder. Have also had a hip replacement. Never had a total shoulder replacement.
Cody.. On august 2007 I had my right hip replaced On December 2009 I had my left hip replaced On October 2010 I had my left shoulder replaced And sometimes in May or June of this year I will have my right shoulder replaced...
I saw my orthopedic specialist on Monday March 13th and he agrees that the time has come to do it.. ~~First he wants a cat scan of my shoulder as part of the pre-op procedure.. This is already booked for March 25th at the hospital.. ~~Then he wants me to have an appointment with the heart specialist for a check-up which I will book shortly after the cat scan.. That should be about one week after the cat scan.. ~~Then I must go to some sort of a seminar all about what will happen as far as the shoulder replacement goes.. This can be done by teleconferencing which would avoid a trip for that.. That might be another week or 2 at the most.. ~~Then he can book an appointment to do the surgery which will be done about 2 to 3 weeks after everything is done.. In the meantime there isn't anything to do but continue on the way I am now with some pain and the painkillers he gave me which is Oxycodone.. It might seem like a long wait but it will only be less than 3 months from my visit which is FAST !!!!
Went food shopping today.. I had to double up on the Oxycodone pills to keep on shopping without too much pain.. I will be taking it easy over the next few days.. Cooking is a must but that doesn't bother me too much..
@Steve North Mid March now, 50`F morning, 90`F late afternoon. That's why we're here! End of April? Close to 100`F, unless Hell freezes over...... My shoulder hurts like hell very locally, I can put my finger on the exact location of the pain, front, top, of the ball of the shoulder. Nagging pain which inexplicably comes and goes, not related to use of the joint. All day long I reach up, use the arm, pain free, then sit quietly watching Wheel of Fortune, and the pain becomes nearly unbearable, unrelated to arm position, support it with the other, place it above my head, etc. Bewildering. Need X-ray, surely. Fear medical intervention. Chicken. Frank
The only thing I can say about your shoulder pain is........................ MAYBE YOU SHOULD STOP WATCHING WHEEL OF FORTUNE ................ Seriously, have it checked out because the sooner it is attended to, the simpler the treatment could be.. Eventually you will have to do something, so why not sooner than later..
Its almost 5:00am and I am up on here.. Went to sleep about 4 hours ago and I woke up because my shoulder was painful to the point I couldn't sleep.. If I sit up for a while, it changes positions and the pain seems to subside somewhat allowing me to go back to sleep for about another few hours.. I would rather do it this way instead of taking a strong pain killer of Oxycodone..
