I'm going to need help in understanding what this will actually mean to me. Is it going to affect Medicare, etc.? I'm looking for input from smarter people on here. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2017/05/04/obamacare-replacement-bill-approved-in-house.html
I don't think so Chrissy. I have medicare and and no effects from Obamacare. when it was put into effect. I do know people who said insurance premiums went thru the roof. including some medical people i know.
Thanks @Gary Ridenour, do you know if it will affect my supplemental? I have no clue when it comes to health insurance. I just got on Medicare last April and have been satisfied with what I'm getting, of course it's just the basics I've had so far...have not been in a hospital ever, except to give birth. Before I was eligible for Medicare I refused Obamacare for two years, it was a joke in my case and I felt I'd be better off paying the fine but never had to.
Sounds like most of the cuts will be from Medicaid, not Medicare. This is not to say some changes to supplemental coverage from Medicare companies might be coming. Time will tell. It faces many challenges in the Senate.
Medicaid could do with some cutting. States are advertising for people who they can put on Medicaid, whether they need it or not. In Texas, they actually ran regular ads on the radio, and in Maine they simply put you on Medicaid without even telling you that they're doing it. We've been on Medicaid twice and we've never applied for it once. My wife spent quite a lot of time getting us off of it. That might sound like a good thing but they can make a claim against your property after you die, and I'd rather leave that to someone other than the state, or at least save the option for a time when I needed it. The only thing I can think of is that the states are making a profit from the allotment they get from the feds.
no I doubt if it will effect supplemental. didn't mine. I have A,B and and a supplement. if there's an increase in medicare ill get an corresponding increase in supplement premimum
Pelosi's statement was that of an idiot, unfit to serve the people. How the hell could such a moron get elected to high public office? Much less become Speaker of the House? Frank
I was a volunteer on Nancy Pelosi's first political campaign, back in the mid-1980's, but after actually meeting her, after a few weeks on the job, I quit and went to work for her rival, Harry Britt! She still won, of course.
Everything they do ...politician's scare me...they lie people...they pass laws while we are sleeping and many you dont know about until its too late. I am concerned about Medicaid because of grand kid is on that...pays in part her meds for Aspergers.
Hope for your grandchild's sake that she isn't affected but I don't know...too me, insurance is complicated...had enough just weeding through Medicare and my supplemental.
Before changing all the insurance plans, rates and etc.- seems the insurance companies themselves are in need of re-do. Then maybe all the other could fall into place better.
What I find most un-understandable about Obamacare is that if you can't afford it, you will have to pay a fine. Why did it fine those who could least afford to pay a fine?
Yeah, these clowns voted to repeal Obamacare several times when they knew that Obama was in place to veto it, and prevent it from actually being repealed. Now that we have a president who will sign legislation to repeal it, they won't do it. Don't be fooled, either. Although only three Republicans voted against repeal, that was all they needed to keep it from being repealed. Had the Democrats needed Lindsey Graham's vote, or Mitch McConnell's, or some others, they'd have had them. Here's a political ad that doesn't age well.
