Oh that's a cute little thing @Ken Anderson , I like that. I have a dvd player all set up at the TV station , god alone knows why because I rarely watch DVD's any more..apart from the odd aerobic exercise video..but I could always just use the computer to play those..
Now that it arrived, let me give a review, although I have just now began playing the first DVD on it. The picture and sound are good. The sound doesn't go up very high but, of course, it's a very small screen so it's not intended to be placed far away. It can be used with earphones or a headset, but I don't think I'll bother with that. It does indeed play the DVDs that my iMac wouldn't play. So, I guess it meets my objectives, and was a good buy. That is, unless it quits working. Plus, since it's portable and has a chargeable battery, I can watch movies while we're driving long distances and my wife is driving. That would be sure to annoy her.
I purchased a Samsung DVD player this past Autumn but haven't used it even once yet. I guess it's because I was watching Netflix a lot. I have since cancelled Netflix so I could watch some of my movies..I especially like As Good As It Gets.
That was a good movie! Right now I'm very into Call the midwife...best series I've seen in a long time. Getting near the end.
Having used the DVD player for a while now, I still consider it to have been a good buy. For the most part, I prefer to watch DVDs through the computer because I have a large monitor that I am not using for other purposes, and the sound adjusts higher on the computer. But some DVDs simply won't play on an iMac, which doesn't even recognize them as accessible content. Plus the DVD player isn't nearly as picky about scratches on the disk as my iMac is. So far, it has flawlessly played a few Netflix disks that my iMac had trouble with, continually skipping damaged areas of the disk.
We have a DVD/VCR combo player. And I did notice when I hooked it up to our flatscreen in the livingroom that while the Movie will play...the TV sound has to be turned up all the way to hear the Movie good. When I hook the player up to the flatscreen in our bedroom the sound plays just fine at normal volume. I thought at first I had something hooked up wrong on the livingroom TV...but I don't. It's just the way things work differently.
I'm the opposite, I don't fool with blu-ray stuff, but heavy into DVDs. I have an all-regions Oppo DVD player so I can collect Brit, French, and Italian movies before the American censors can butcher them.
