Some here in Texas had a bit of white fluff yesterday, but did not stick much.Weird weather we all have been having.
It's great for the children...especially if they've never seen it before...and I love the snow too, as long as I don't have to go out in it..I hate driving in it..*ugh*..... we're forecast for some later this weekend.. but then that's fairly usual for this part of the world at this time of the year
That's exactly what it's like in the UK...here in the south we all go into a panic at 2 inches of snow, the trains stop running the airports come to a halt, panic ensues.... up North, they have 6 foot of the stuff, and they get the BBQ out....made of tough stuff those northerners..lol...
Well they did close the schools, the Courthouse, etc. over here yesterday because of the snow. To me that is a wonderful thing to do because most of us here in Louisiana do not know how to drive under snowy conditions....and yesterday we had both snow and rain along with the cold weather which usually makes for what they call "black ice" on the roadways and causes lots of accidents, etc. Anyway, since snow is so rare over here...we cajuns love to take a snow day and play in it.
yep we have a lot of Black ice..there's a whole load out there in the dark right now on the road outside my house ...we don't have snow chains here in the UK either for cars...so it's pretty dangerous to drive in it... however, we all have to do it or no-one would ever get to work...and we'd all starve to death.. Also I have a front wheel drive car... as do the vast majority here where I live ..except the farmers .. This is the lane through the woods from my house...this was taken last year...but it's pretty much the same every winter... and what's worse of course that there are no street lights at all..so driving after 3.30pm when it's dark and the road is very busy and the snow is packed down on top of hidden black ice .. is very scary ...and often we have fog as well....remember also the vast majority of us here in the UK drive stick shifts..thank goodness, I feel often that manual cars are easier to control in bad road conditions than auto's...
