I'm glad you got your heart problem straight and know that you must be disappointed you have to wait for the CI implant. But the way time has been flying by this year...your wait will not be a long one.
The Activation was a three hour procedure with the ENT Audiologist programming the implant. At the end of the session he had me repeat numbers and individual words. I got them all and only had trouble with one word ENTERPRISE. Sentences were more difficult but he said as I continue to use the implant and listen to a variety of sounds I will experience great improvement. He was right. I see improve almost by the hour. It's a Brain Thing they tell me. My brain has to adapt things sounding somewhat different and then adusting again to prior implant hearing. All in all I am pleased and glad I had the procedure. http:www.thoughtsandtravels.blogspot.com
That is so wonderful, @Lon Tanner ! ! It sure took a while for them to get everything finished , but you know it would right from the start. That is just great that you can hear again, and our minds are able to do some awesome things; so I am sure that it will get better and better for you to hear with the implant as you adjust to the sound of it.
So thankful to hear your good news @Lon Tanner and praying things will just get better each day with your new hearing.
Terrific! Rush Limbaugh spoke at length about his cochlear implant on some of his shows, and about the training that was involved, so if you're picking things up already, you will probably do very well with it.
UPDATE 07/15/2015 I hate to say it, but my hearing is a two on a scale of one to 10. One on one conversation is strained.Music zero. Group conversation zero. It's better than not hearing at all, but not much.
My word... no music, little conversation if at all... that's rotten for you Lon... Do you feel the implant was a waste of money? Good thing you live in the computer age, or you'd have very little interaction with people...
My Hearing Loss is for a military service connected disability due to exposure from jet engine noise when ear protectors were not mandatory. I am told the procedure cost the government $100,000 . Yes---Computer savy has helped me.
