The whole idea of you are the sex that you decide you are has finally reached a point of insanity. The Canadian government is leading the way in this insanity. A man changed his sex on an application for car insurance to get a better rate.

Just ridiculous!! we were talking about this the other day , and it seems that you can now ''identify'' as any gender you wish on any day you want. Now I have no idea if this has become legal in the uk, but I know it's been discussed.

It's certainly a concern, what's to stop peado's and weirdo's of either gender identifying themselves as the opposite gender to access areas where children go..for example public toilets?

I agree with you both. I think the big danger is locker rooms more than toilets, except where children are concerned. This nonsense is creeping into many societies, and you must remember that you cannot allow your children and grandchildren to go to a public toilet by themselves anymore. High school and college locker rooms are becoming real hazardous areas at least potentially. Just as this guy did the change to get better insurance rates, don't you think there are a number of weirdos out there who would do it to get access to women's locker rooms? I read somewhere (maybe here) that the top two "women" athletes in Connecticut are actually men. There was some danger that the women's high school track records up here would be held by a "man" competing as a woman in track and field. I haven't heard much about that recently, but I don't know if the story has gone away or if it is being suppressed for politically correct reasons.

Aside from that, Canada's PM is a REAL crazy dude! Trudeau travels around the world and dresses in the native costumes, bowing to other leaders and even kissing the hand of a few. If Trump were to do that (or May either, for that matter) they would be severely criticized for ridiculing the native culture of the countries they are visiting. Somehow, the "Nut to the North" gets away with all that, perhaps because Canada is no longer taken seriously on the world stage.

I have always held the view that sex and gender are two different things , the first being biological and the second a question of psychology.
Despite being transgender I still regard myself as male sex because I was born male.

That aside, I think the man in question is just taking advantage of a legal loophole and is probably not transgender anyway.
Administrators create confusion everywhere through refusing to recognise the distinction.
it isn't really as complicated as the self-elect experts make it.

My concern with all this is that I'm bewildered by, or at the very least, lacking understanding, of what reasoning lies behind a male's decision to take female hormones, have breast implants done, yet retains his (her) male sex organs and abilities, calling herself a "she-male". The internet seems awash with it, if you look, which I have, and now look away.

I thought becoming the opposite gender involved just that: surgical removal and implantation of the differing parts, thus completing the gender change. Evidently this is done in the minority only?

I'm guessing because it's probably a major operation and not cheap...plus maybe insurance won't cover.

    I'm just guessing though....

While I respect your right to voice your opinion, I take exception to your trashing my Prime Minister and my country. (I would never post such disparaging marks re Presldent Trump or America). It is insulting and disrespectful toward certain Canadian members of this forum.

    @Sacheen BrightEagle
Are you aware that @Martin Alonzo is, I believe, a Canadian citizen, and was born there?

Insanity yes sit per topic, we had a small business here locally the was the target about a year ago of the bathroom issue from those wish a 3rd rest room for those souls that were not sure of their sexes, the local hardware store said ok and got a nice teal blue porta potty with closing door for them and labeled it "others". Not indoors but in the back lot where they were expanding. It was the local joke of the town and it did increase business as some wished to see it. I loved it.

Indeed, I am aware, that is why I used the terminology of “certain Canadians.”

Truthfully, although it is not what is expected of a Prime Minister, I don’t see any problem with the dressing up in the costumes or national dress outfits of a country that he is visiting.
I can’t see anything harmful in it, and it comes off as friendly, but not submissive (as Obama bowing did), and the pictures I see here all show a happy father with his family.
As long as he is doing his job for his country, that is what is important.
As far as the gender thing goes, I think that every country is having to try and understand this, and come to some conclusions on how to deal with the new issue of gender fluidity.
Deciding that you are going to change sex just to get a better insurance rate is not right, nor is participating in sports as a woman when you are a man, and can easily win the sport .
That is a whole different application than someone who feels they are in the wrong body, and wants to change for life. (I don’t understand that either, but I have a better time of accepting it as a legitimate issue )

Clearly, you choose to disregard my comments regarding disrespect toward my country and my Prime Minister. Imagine how you would feel should I be rude enough to ridicule your president. Such blatant disregard of courtesy is unacceptable to me. Perhaps this forum is not a good fit for me after all.
