I have been told, and it makes some sense, that GPS accuracy is deliberately flawed in and around the nation's capital, particularly around its more sensitive buildings and bases, in order to make it more difficult for terrorists or nations to target specific buildings from afar. The GPS will take us near where we're going but it is also frequently off.
By the way, our host is Ron Tanner, an author who has several books on Amazon.com. Besides owning the farm we're staying at, he teaches writing at Loyola University. He has a website at houselove.org. More about Good Contrivance Farm, where we are staying, can be found here.
We're heading home tomorrow. We'll get a late start because we will be stopping off to visit with the grandkids and their father one more time before we leave, so we might spend a couple of nights in hotels on the way home, given that we won't make it halfway back before we get tired.
Everything was so pressed for time that it all went awry. Usually, we stay a week rather than three days, but I didn't want to leave my older cat for that long. We have someone looking in on them, of course, but Cutie doesn't fraternize with people from outside the family. Actually, after 18 years she has only recently come to accept Michelle as part of the family.
Cutie would get on the couch between us, or on the bed, and then push on Michelle, trying to get her to move further away. And she was the nice one. Her sister would crap in her shoes or her purse, and hiss at her whenever she came into the room.
No, I don't think she actually ever scratched or bit her. Lydia was all bluff, but she made her opinion of our marriage clear. Cutie too, but in a more passive-aggressive way. Actually, I guess crapping in someone's shoes or purse is a bit on the passive-aggressive side of things, too.
We are in New Jersey for the night. Although we could easily make it home tomorrow, we'd have a long drive ahead of us and will probably spend another night in a hotel in New Hampshire or southern Maine. Michelle's hip is hurting so it hurts her to drive and, while I could once drive from Michigan to California without stopping except to eat or gas up, I am no longer in my 20s.
Being home again is nice, too. Ella wanted to go out. Cutie is mad at me for leaving her. Once I get some treats out, she'll forgive me.
