We still have lots them in many cities including Leipzig where I live. There are many different designs, some older (see tram in the background), some newer like this one. Dotflo [CC BY-SA 4.0 (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0)], from Wikimedia Commons I don't see the older trams anymore which used to look like this one when I was young.
Now that I look back on it, why did my jeans have cuffs back in the day? Living in Florida and being a boy, I'd have to 'unroll' my cuffs before entering the house to get the sand out. Did they buy them so when I grew, you just undid the cuff and added life to the jeans? Fat chance of that, considering how hard I was on clothes... I also remember the iron-on knee patches my mom put on my jeans.
"Iron Poor Blood". That's why you feel so down and depressed. 2 tablets or 2 tablespoons of this and all is right with the world.
'cos it was fashionable at the time, I assume. I'd have killed to get some of those back then, preferably Levi's 507.
@Thomas Stearn you are probably right, just what was available. Remember waiting for your new 'school' clothes to break in...everything was stiff! And just realized that Geritol liquid has 12% alcohol in that bottle. No wonder people got a 'lift' from that stuff.
Oh how lovely Betty White was back in the day.... wonder if she took that stuff herself, perhaps what's why she's so sprightly in her 90's?
I still have many of the 45's stored in the attic I had as a teen..all worn down smooth they were played so often...
Any of those among them?: http://mentalfloss.com/article/77144/10-records-you-might-have-owned-are-now-worth-fortune Great record player with loudspeaker. Never seen...

Yes! 1. BOB DYLAN // THE FREEWHEELIN’ BOB DYLAN (1963) and 6. Beatles// PLEASE PLEASE ME (1963) and a ton of 45's with the original picture sleeves!!
New Orleans has had about the same model trolley for as long as I can remember. The garden district has all the trolleys and the rest of the city uses buses.
We got new winter coats every three years. The first year, the coat was new and pretty but it was too big. Second year it fit fine but was getting a little shabby. Third year the sleeves were too short and Mom would sew cuffs into the sleeves. Then the cycle would start over. The thing I remember the fondest was the "Easter Outfit". New dress, new little hat, new gloves, new shiny patent leather Mary Janes, new socks with lace. Once a year I thought I was a princess.
