The other night while lying in bed reading, I felt a hurting pain below my chin bone in two places In the left side of my neck, along the carodic artery area below my cheek bone and up above the region where the artery enters the chest. It was a strong warm pain. I felt pain again in the same two areas a few minutes later. It frightened me a little as I thought lt might be a precursor to a stroke. That was two nights ago. This morning while driving to Walmart on Main Street, a busy through fare, my vision blurred severely and both sides of my neck and head heated. My first reaction was I needed to find a place To pull over immediately. I had slowed the vehicle ready to pull over to a controlled stop when just as suddenly my vision cleared, my neck and head felt normal, the heat gone. Again I thought about stroke. I continued to drive to Walmart although with more caution. I Have had no other problems. The immediate hot heat in my entire neck and head and a very blurred vision gave me pause. I thought of TIAs and strokes and wondered these simple reading in bed and driving this morning episodes were any way related or perhaps no problem at all. I could find the systems described are not symptoms of anything. Thinking about this, I may have had another incidence a while back. Coming from the grocery store I was stopped at a light in the left turn lane. When the light changed I started turning left but thought where in the samhill am I? And I wondered why the car to my left was crowding me so. I was perturbed not knowing where I was and where I was going when I realized I had been to the grocery store and was headed home. And realized I had been crowding the driver in the left lane. Miley Mouse, I 'd better watch my driving, huh? Any one had any problems like those described above?
No Bill, can’t say that I have but little ripples could mean big waves are coming so get yourself scheduled for a look see. There are no medical doctors here (I don’t think) but even if there were they’d say the same thing.....I hope.
I agree with Bobby....call your dr. and tell him or her what you posted. Take it from there...depending on what the dr says.
I think that you need to call your doctor, RIGHT AWAY ! ! That sounds like they definitely could be a precursor to a stroke, heart attack, or some other very serious problem, @Bill Boggs . If not your heart, then possibly a blood sugar problem, but anything that is making you start to pass out needs to be attended to before something serious does happen, and if you have been having mild strokes, then you could have a debilitating one at any time. My father was having small strokes before he had the big one that he never recovered from, and he either didn’t know what was happening or was not telling anyone, because we didn’t know the signs to look for. He was also having trouble remembering things, and sometimes could not move his left arm or leg very well, and once he fell on the steps, but we didn’t know if he stumbled or blacked out. When he had his major stroke, he was in his early 80’s, and he never recovered from that, and passed away shortly afterwards. Possibly, if he had gotten to a doctor when he had the smaller strokes, they could have prevented the large one. They might just need to put you on blood thinners, and that would take care of it, so if you go right away, it might not be a big thing.
My friend, you hie thee to the doctor tomorrow morning if not sooner. And that, my dear, is an order!!!!!
I don't know it is anything serious. It's not like I actually had a tia, no numbness, no tingling, nothing like that. I don't have a doctor but I'll talk to my nurse next time she calls. Thanks forthe info.
It could well turn out to be nothing, but it could be something serious, so yeah, it would be a good idea to consult with someone who can diagnose it. The blurred vision, in particular, seems like it could suggest a problem.
I've momentarily forgot where I was while driving, and had the warm head/neck pain sensation, but not at the same time. Never had the blurry vision. Like Ken said, the blurry vision would worry me most. Better get it checked, Bill.
Oh yes Bill..please wait until your nurse calls. NOT....if you keel over I hope you hear us all bitchen at you for not checking this out
