Happy February 1 st ! Soon snow, wind, and cold will end- for some of us...but then the rain, tornadoes, and allergies kick in right around Spring...awwwe can hardly wait
Every year is different than the one before. Sometimes we have our first snow in early September. Other times, we're well into November. Most years, March brings a mix of spring thunderstorms and winter snowstorms. Some years, we still have snow on the ground in May. I don't see any trend toward anything in particular.
I look forward to the colder months as we catch much larger fish and it weeds out the weekend idiot crowds real good you only see those serious out for the most parts, really don't make a ton of difference here as I have to be out in it daily what ever it is.
The days are getting just a little longer and I'm so happy about it. Before I moved north, it was daylight until almost 6 PM in winter - I miss that extra hour.
It is still -10 F. here, @Shirley Martin, so there won't be robins or buds for a while. The days are getting longer, though, and we are almost up to 8 hours of daylight!
@Don Alaska We are predicted to have 72º Tuesday, 66º Wednesday, 73º Thursday and 75º Friday. Not sure about the hours of daylight but I'm pretty sure it's more than 8.
15 F. and snowing like crazy, @Shirley Martin. I was out plowing the driveway when confronted by a moose. She and her calf started to move into the swamp just as the tractor died from frozen fuel filter. I had to remove the filter and bring it inside, all the while watching that the moose didn't return. Hopefully, in about twenty or thirty minutes, the filter will be thawed and I will be able to finish my plowing.
I think it's less daylight.Like less su shine, here in the great white North we have much shorter days and longer nights.I think that contributes to January blues.
January usually is the big fish time here. So I look forward. to it plus the weather then keeps the weekend idiots at home we get those who really wish to be there.
