    Update..waste..do not recommend making this particuliar receipe from Taste of Home...very disappointing:(

    So I looked up the nutrition info on a Marie Cavender's pot pie, and one pie has 800 calories, wth??? The box indicates one pie is two servings.... um, I think not! The Banquet ones are about half the calories, but also half the filling and half the taste. So I bought the Banquet ones for 75 cents each... what a deal. At least I can have the whole dang pie.

    @Beth Gallagher ...yes I know very fattening pies. We have eaten them off and on for years.But have been making our own and taste is great with a lot less calories and fat.

    I tried making the filling last time using a can of condensed Cream of Potato Soup. It turned out pretty good.
    (mixed vegs, chopped chicken thigh, onions, +soup). Had the leftover chicken already.

    It's got to be pretty easy or I won't make it. The filling was better than the pie, because I can't make pie crust. :p

    Good point, Gloria. How I long for the days when I could eat anything without a care about "nutritional values" on the package. :D Nowadays if I look at cookies too long I gain 5 pounds, sigh.

    Anyway, I have some leftover baked chicken in the fridge and some bagged mixed veggies, so I might have to give homemade a go. I was going to make noodle soup with the chicken so we'll see how this plays out!

    Sounds pretty good, Nancy. I always keep frozen puff pastry and a pie crust or two in the freezer, so it would be easy to "dump and bake." (My favorite kind of cooking.) :D

    I hear you...a crying shame we finally make it to the Older person section - but still having to watch ŵhat we eat because of calories , fat and cholesterol:(

    I buy them sometimes. More of a convenience, really. I like them but I don't have them often. Prefer a bottom crust.
