We're 'very' happy to be a couple day in day out. Love each other totally so no need to look elsewhere to fill a gap
LOL>..it must be hard when a man retires to actually find his place in the home where the partner has been used to her own schedule for years.... but yes I would say the same to my husband if he started following me around
My grandfather was a "master" in a welding shop, making big ship propellers. When he retired, he no longer had anyone to supervise, so he supervised my grandmother. It was his new 24-hour-a-day job. Even though she had been able to keep house quite successfully without "supervision" for 48 years, now she needed to be instructed how to sweep the carpets (apparently she hadn't been doing that correctly....), stack the dishes in the dishdrainer, do the laundry, dust, put clothes away, iron...….you name it, she wasn't doing it correctly or efficiently. He died peacefully in his sleep. We don't know why, but my theory is that she crept into his room one night and smothered him with a pillow. No jury of her peers would have convicted her once they heard the story. In fact, the ladies in the courtroom probably would have carried her out on their shoulders for a ticker tape parade. Sleep lightly, guys.
Oooer @Mary Robi All I can say is - its good to talk, me and Fabs have mastered that art She should have found him a different hobby
I've heard this same story so many times @Mary Robi , ..apparently it's raised the divorce rate amongst seniors to an all time high...
I believe my husband understands that any task he feels I'm not doing well will quickly become "his." Hence, I am doing great at all the things.
We've been married for 42 years, most of which I was away somewhere working, but now I am home and my wife has the opportunity to spread her wings, develop her talents, and contribute to the well-being of the household.
I throw these things in every now and then, in order to encourage her to post if she happens to be reading it.
I became completely free when I retired 21 years ago, but my wife, being a German workaholic, soon started her own business with a female partner, and now SHE'S at work all day while I'M at home! With my 37-year Boeing pension and S.S. and her income and no mortgage, we're pretty comfortable! Howl
