Yep, that’s supposed to be the name of the movie. From what I have read, 88 years old Clint Eastwood is directing a new movie based on the 1996 bombing in Atlanta. So the history goes, Richard Jewell, a security guard at the Olympics, found the bomb and saved quite a few lives but he was the one suspected of setting it in the first place. The media, in all of it’s glory, ran with the story and after adequately ruining the guard’s life, the real terrorist was found. I do know that Mr. Jewell sued just about everyone who mentioned his name over the airways or put it in print but how that part turned out I really do not know. Google it I guess. Anyway, that’s the movie and I think I might be interested in watching it when it comes on Amazon Prime Video in a couple of years.
It's a shame that "freedom of the press" doesn't have any validity requirement, particularly in today's world.
The media was absolutely horrid, as the media so often is, to the point that most people will connect Richard Jewell's name with the bombing, and be unaware that he was completely cleared of that. The media's coverage of Jewell as the bomber outweighed their coverage of his innocence many times over.
Yes, the accusations are blaring headlines for days on end, then suddenly the retraction is buried on the back page in a small blurb.
By the looks of things, they are still casting. I can't find a tentative date but I'll keep my eyes out.
Richard Jewell sure had his life ruined by the media, aided by law enforcement who refused to admit that they could have been wrong.
Just now seeing that Tucker Carlson has left Fox News and will be starting at Newsmax soon. Fox News is crashing bad ! They have either fired their best people, or they quit. There is word of Trump starting his own news channel once we are past the election and voter fraud stuff. I would not be surprised if he decided to back Newsmax if he does not start his own channel. If he does start one, it will be a top channel immediately with all of his almost 90 million Twitter supporters now able to follow Trump on live TV.
He spoke about doing that years ago, I think if he didn't get the nomination. Yes, I've no doubt it would be huge from the start, as long as he doesn't make it all about him.
I think you are right, @Beth Gallagher . I looked on Twitter and I can’t find that tweet, so it was either faked or a fake account which is now gone. Sharp eyes there, Girl ! ! It was on my facebook feed, but not there now either. They have been talking about Tucker Carlson leaving Fox, so it looked like he could have decided to do that.
