It figures you can find them again now. When I was searching for one years ago, they were as scarce as hens teeth! LOL Everything old is new again.
I sure do remember those little plastic do-hickeys! And I had a lot of them. Unfortunately I didn't keep the records to go with them, or any other size of my records either. Looking at the pictures in this thread was quite the trip down the ol' memory lane for me! I had a record player like that, too... and an old typewriter. No wonder our arms were so tired after using those things... bang bang bang... back up. Drat. a smudge. Ugh! And that other thing... an iron, I guess. Never had one, never even saw one like this, but that's what it looks like from the bottom section of it. I'm trying to remember what kind of iron my grandma showed me that had been her mother's, and I'm thinking it may have been *kind of* like this one, but a tad more modern looking. (But my grandma always used an electric iron.)
No thanks I love computers-remember wite-out? Now i've just the correction pen for the just in case mistakes when I do paper things. image from http://connectconsultinggroup.com/update-your-obsolete-language/.
Me too for it's so much easier to use and last longer. The bottle wite-out dries out and so does the pen. I can't tell you how many I just threw away when I used it just a few times. When the tape came out I bought it on sale and loved it. I carry one around in my purse now and it lasts and lasts.
I collected literally hundreds of vinyl records throughout my lifespan in the 20th century, from 45 RPM singles and extended play (2 songs per side) to 33 RPM long plays and maxi-colored singles, mainly from the late 70s early 80s when disco music brought us those not-longer-black records. Sadly (to my pocket) I gave away all of those records to my sister, who also has her own hundreds of LPs and EPs, plus our parents records, and two or three 78 RPM records from our grandmother, which are not vinyl and truly heavy
I have still 2 or 3 typewriting machines at my parents' home, but they are not in the best conditions, despite they still work. I bought a new one of these mechanical gems in 2010, but sold it shortly because I was in need of money. Today I'm willing to buy another, but since I want it to write, it has to be in perfect conditions; haven't found any yet.
