I was just reading the report that Iran has captured the British tanker, Stena Impero, with its 23 crew members. The news report goes on to say that another tanker is missing and also believed to have been captured by Iran . The article goes on to say that the British ships had turned off their trackers, and were in an area where they were not supposed to be. https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/breaking-british-flagged-tanker-in-18366951
If there wasn’t anything going on with the British tankers and Iran captured them out of the need to show their military wherewithal, then I’m afraid that the defecation is going to strike the air oscillating device any time now. I’m noticing that it’s awfully quiet on the political front so I imagine that the Joint Chiefs along with the their British counterparts are getting ready for the dance.
They also have the crew members. Other than Jordan and Israel, it seems most of the Mid Eastern countries enjoy being in the middle of a pile of conflict even though they have no chance of winning outside of their rock circle. Why don't they just build a water park instead of being an annoyance? They really hurt the tourist traffic for their neighboring countries.
Think is more to do with the UK seizing an Iranian tanker of Gibraltar two weeks ago smuggling oil to Syria.
One tanker is Liberian and the other is British. If I recall correctly the Iranians tried to board another British tanker just a few days prior to this last one but the Royal Navy was there to thwart the attempt. It seems that throughout the years since the Carter administration that the theocratic leadership in Iran doesn’t do well with diplomatic interventions. It does do well however with the threat of annihilation as ensampled by Ronald Reagan’s threat of bombing the country out of existence just prior to the election which put him in the Oval Office. It is well acknowledged that the U.S. doesn’t really have any chips on the table in this instance but with the tensions running so high between Iran and the U..S., it’s going to be Interesting (to take it lightly) to see what transpires.
Yes, especially since it was carrying crude oil to Syria, thus breaking EU sanctions. They had every right to seize it.
