@Gloria Mitchell Thank you! It's only so, if it's of a technical nature, though. In matters of love, family, kids, I know precious little...... Frank I agree. If desalination was being used properly, then it would also begin to be one of the solutions to rising sea water. It's more expensive, but expensive water is better than no water at all. At least it gives people the opportunity to use water according to their budget, not government rationing. As per the internet (this is USA cost. I'm sure Australia's cost would be comparable.): A thousand gallons of freshwater from a desalination plant costs the average US consumer $2.50 to $5, Pankratz says, compared to $2 for conventional freshwater
Amazon and WalMart carry the floor air conditioner units that are really reasonably priced. Some are more expensive, but for right around $100, you can get a nice unit. I got my mom one a couple of years ago because she gets hot in her bedroom at night since my Dad keeps the AC up so high. She really likes it. Wouldn't do the whole house, but will keep a room real comfy for you.
Cast your peepers on this @Mary Robi. During Sydneys heatwave last summer I suspect. The parched inland Darling River. Temps reached 50C last summer.
LOL..we don't have Walmart here... well a a tatty supermarket chain was bought out by Walmart some years ago, but they didn't rename it walmart, they kept their original name Asda , and it would be ridiculous to compare it to an American style walmart either by size or variety of goods... Not sure if I could get a floor standing AC unit here for £100.. but thanks Bess, I'll take a look at Amazon when I get the chance. Been out all day at a Vintage air museum, and gardens, glorious day......it's late now, so I just popped on to have a little read while I'm having a cuppa char before bed, so no time to look now....
It's actually been a little milder lately in Florida, plus we get the afternoon / evening showers to further cool things off.
