What are your favorite pet Birds? We've always had pet Birds in the house. My wife kept Parrots, Cockatiels, and Conures. Now that we're older, we keep smaller, simpler birds, such as Budgies. Some people keep Falcons. If it were legal, I'd like to have an Al, but it's not legal in California. Als have always fascinated me, because they look like they're always in charge of their environment, and they appear to know what's going on! Of the several types of Als, my favorite is the Great Horned Al. Howl
@Hal Pollner I dated an Al once. He probably wouldn't have been legal in California either. Flamingo....and not just because I'm from Florida. I think they are beautiful and majestic. Like a 'luxury' bird.
Have had Budgies as well, they're very entertaining. Billy, who i had for 7 years, thought i was getting him a cute toy once, was a plastic budgie, put it through one of the perches so it could spin around. think i caused him frustration, he thought it was a girl friend, kept spinning her around, trying to get her in the mood, all efforts failed. I felt so bad, got him a real girl friend, never seen such a happy bird. Once she warmed up to him, things went good.
Am i the only one that wonders this, or are there others that wonder why no one gets pooped on from birds, ducks and geese in flight. " Look out, it's a bird "......poop.
Have you ever lived near a coastal area with seagulls? They absolutely will crap on your head on your way into the grocery store. They mess up your car windows, your sun deck, etc. and they will try to get to your picnic on the beach if they can. I HATE those birds.
I love conures and would like to have one, except that my cat probably wouldn't make it feel welcome.
I don't have pet birds. I know very little about any birds. I have a couple of bird feeders and feed them during winter. I enjoy watching then, and hope to learn about some of them. I don't have any favorites in my back yard. They are merely birds. I suppose If I had to pick a favorite bird, I've mostly admired birds of prey: eagles, hawks, owls. I've mostly admired owls, I think. None of it makes any sense, I suppose. I look in the mirrow, look at the owl, we're both ugly, both rather naturally quiet, and both always saying, who?
