I don't put anything on my fries but when I lived in Hungary and went to the McDonalds there, mayo was used instead of ketchup.

My wife uses mayo on fries, and I think that's so strange.

I can take this a step further... I have only done it a couple of times, but I have a fry dipping sauce recipe that I found online.. it mixes ketchup and mayo. Can't remember if there's a third ingredient or not... and it's *good!* It was just called a simple "Fry Dipping Sauce." :D

I've mixed ketchup and mayo before. My late husband liked fried egg sandwiches with one bread spread with mayo and the other with ketchup.

@Ken Anderson , although I don't eat my fries with mayo, I don't think its strange. Mayo is my favorite condiment.

For things that "normal" people might use mayonnaise for, such as BLTs, I prefer Miracle Whip. To me, mayonnaise tastes like Miracle Whip that has been left out in the sun too long. Although I usually opt for horseradish, mustard or something along those lines, I sometimes have hamburgers with Miracle Whip, tomatoes, and lettuce and, for that, I can tolerate mayonnaise, but prefer Miracle Whip.

I like ketchup on fries. Sometimes I'll mix Tabasco sauce with the ketchup. I like horseradish sauce on some things but not on fries. None of the commercial horseradish sauces I've tried had much horseradish in them until I tried wasabi. Now you can taste the horseradish in that stuff. It'll clear your sinuses too.

You are NOT kidding there, Sheldon! Oh my... I'm remembering my first taste of wasabi. Good gracious, I thought I'd have to call the paramedics. I was new to the world of sushi (love love love it now!) and I assumed that the "pretty green stuff" was to pile on top of the piece of sushi.

Yes, "pile on top." So... well it sure was pretty, and that's exactly what I did. I'd swallowed before I knew what it was going to do to me. Lesson learned... in spades. My goodness.

I still use it, and it's still pretty :p but a weeeee little dab'll do me now.

:oops:I like fries and try to make it healthy by baking them instead of frying them at home. Now with all the deals at McDonalds McPic 2 for $2 or Burger King's 5 for $4 and Wendy's .99 menu (I love their chili) it's so hard not to get fries from a fast food that' so hot and good! There goes my cholesterol levels!!!

Aw, @Sheldon Scott , you need to try it! hehe No, I'm not bossy. Well, I mean... uh.... stop laughing! :D Seriously, here's the thing... I used to say the same. It turned my stomach to think of sushi... gagged me even. But then I realized that it's not necessarily "raw fish"... in fact, for as much as I love the stuff, I've still never had the raw kind. Ick!

The sushi I eat is fully cooked fish... mostly the imitation crab. It's called (my favorite) California Roll. The sticky rice... fake crab/lobster, avocado, etc. and sometimes a thin cream cheese "stick".... it really is good.

But the kind with raw ingredients? Won't touch it.

Believe it or not, I can even get frozen sushi at Walmart now... fully cooked, thaw and serve. Here's the kind I get. (Will copy/paste work here in the forum? I'll try.)

kemah boardwalk.jpg I don't have french fries enough to mind them being fried. I do love McDonald's fries, even though I still have scars on my arms from the XXs of the french fry baskets when I worked at McDonald's as a teen. On the rare occasions that I make fries from scratch, I just cut up real potatoes and cook them in a frying pan. Occasionally, I will dig out my little deep fryer, but that doesn't happen much. I like my fries salty, and like ketchup on the side, for dipping, rather than smothering them in it. I'm going to have to look up Kheema, which now has me drooling about seafood, because most of the local seafood restaurants are in Kemah (Texas) at the boardwalk. Now Ken has me thinking about open campus. I loved open campus, except I never wanted to go back to school afterwards. We had a few pizza/sub shops near school that my friends and I would frequent when we were able to leave for lunch or leave early due to study periods we didn't really need to attend. Sometimes I'll skip the fries and go for onion rings, which are another favorite.

Mayo on fries- I saw a program about fries years ago on the Food channel. I learned that "French" fries were invented in Belgium and the original dipping sauce was mayonaisse.

They were fried twice, but I don't remember why and served in a paper cone. Sometimes the mayo was mixed with a bit of tomato sauce.

    They looked soooo good!

Funny, I made homemade fries on Monday night to go with burgers. Yes, real potatoes cut with a French Fry Cutter, put into a metal basket and into the Deep Fry Cooker. We LOVE them. Put some popcorn salt on them and "away we go". We both eat them with ketchup, but sometimes I will dip them into mayo.
We like, not love, Micky D's fries and a burger place called 5 Guys. They give a nice portion of fries and we eat all of them!
We really need to go on a diet, but it just too much fun eating all this stuff we aren't suppose to eat. LOL
Neither of us are that overweight, but could lose 20 pounds each.

I went to "Five Guys" once to see what all the fuss was about because they had city awards for Best Burgers. The burgers were delicious but humongous, and so were the hand-cut fries. They have 15 FREE ingredients to choose from.

I ordered the small fries and they put a small cup in the bottom of a lunch bag and then overflowed the cup until the lunch bag was almost 1/2 full (I got them to go). It was crazy. And if THAT'S not enough, they have gigantic open boxes of FREE peanuts all-you-can-eat with boxes to put them in. http://thesource.com/2014/02/16/five-guys-secret-menu/

To be honest, the pics below are accurate except the burger didn't look quite that colorful or succulent in real lifeā€¦but still good.
