Sorry Faye, gotta be honest, it's not a good look IMO... but good for you to only care what only you think, and feel comfortable in ...

That is the consensus of my friends. I just hate to give up my walking sandals for 6 months. I guess best to get out my booties and walking shoes.

@Bobby Cole Honestly the socks and sandals thing is a joke about the northwest sorta like a redneck joke. It really isn't a fashion even though it is commonly seen. Something like, "If your are wearing socks with your sandals, then you may be from the Pacific NW." So far not one friend has liked my idea of taking the sloppy socks and sandal look and trying to make it look stylish. My neighbor from Jersey and occasional walking friend, "Honestly Faye, your fall walking foot fashion is a personal embarrassment to one such as myself."

All kidding aside, the area in which we reside in North Alabama, everyday is like taking a trip to Walmart. Casual is Really casual here in that it seems that no one is trying to make a fashion statement but are wearing whatever they wish to cover some skin when autumn and winter hits.
Heck, going to the convenience store in the morning is almost an adventure. People are out of beer or cigarettes and still dressed in bunny slippers and pajama bottoms (or some such) whilst waiting to make their purchase at the store.
Bermuda shorts, slippers, socks and a heavy coat are not uncommon sights in the dead of winter.

I pose the question --- How is a thin black sock look different that the black thin hose we use to wear? Possible if I wore fashion heel sandals with black socks, that would be acceptable. I don't go anywhere anymore that warrants $150 for a 3" heel fashion sandal with black fishnet hose.

This is how I am, too.
When I first got the heart failure, my feet stared swelling up more and more as the day progressed, and I had to change shoes several times, By night, I was wearing a men’s size 10-11 comfy moccasin and my ankles were still puffed over the sides.
Eventually, I started wearing those UGLY Croc things , the cheap ones from Walmart, because I can slide my feet in and out of those easier than trying to wear a real pair of shoes.
I live in those year around, and have two sizes, depending on how my feet are doing each day. In cold weather, I definitely wear the larger pair with socks in them.
It totally does not matter to me what anyone thinks, or if they even notice. This is what works for my feet, and that iswhat I wear.
I seriously MISS being able to wear cowboy boots, but that is a whole other story....

@Bobby Cole At least at your Wal Mart they are trying to cover some skin. Not the case around here in the summer. They think my summer fashion is Amish.

What I was referring to is that it seems that the Walmart look has leaked out to include about a hundred mile radius. I just sit on my porch and the fashion statements begin with Nearly each person walking down the street.
