Nov. 22, 2019 06:30 PST --- Well, this morning was strange. I love my routine. It was rudely interrupted when I sat down after my exercise routine to get my coffee and forum fix. The internet was down. I felt so alone! I went into my studio/shop/sheshed but just couldn't find motivation. I have drawers full of wood scrapes from all over the world and some of bone, horn, brass, and copper, but nothing would speak to me. I don't need anything more for home decorations or really anything else. Tired of just doing repairs. I looked through my fabrics stash, but failed to find inspiration to make anything. Dusted off the pile of Gesso painted Masonite panels, but not inspired to paint anything. Played some music and finally the modem light indicated the internet was up.
The 'no internet' thing is just depressing!! When we had the bad hurricane a couple of years ago, the internet was off 2 - 3 days. I felt LOST. I was so forlorn, I didn't want to do anything at all.
Okay, after reading all these posts again and catching up, here's my thoughts. If I had a chainsaw, I'd give it away; I couldn't use it. Both my western hats (felts). I gave away when I moved here. My straw, which was my favorite, I wore out. I wish I'd kept one of them. I'm always in search of a good avatar. My own photos do not make good anything. And, I'll buy into that bottom feeder thing. Bottom Feeders, in a round about way that does sound rather classy. I, too, need my daily fix of internet and I likes to keep an eye on SOC. I'm always looking for a project to keep me interested.
Oh Bill, if you play the blues on your harmonica then a new felt hat will find you. Oh yes Bill, us gals feeding down here in the bottom are classy and sassy! We only have chainsaws to clear the path for our leader Bill. Finding the perfect avatar is an interesting project. I like your new one.
Nov. 23, 2019 - 05:12 PST --- Good morning SOC! Putting together videos from sound clips of my guitar playing. Sort of a reminiscing musical diary. My playing is not so good anymore, but the show must go on. Here is one of my favorite tunes.
You are very good, Faye. I tried to learn the guitar last year, and it took me 6 weeks just to build up calluses on my finger tips. About that time I put it down for a while, and will have to start all over again. Fingerstyle guitar is very hard.
Is your guitar nylon or steel string? Steel string is very hard to learn finger-picking because of string spacing and also those small gauge strings are hard on the nails and fingers. Thanks you for the kind compliment. I have been playing about 60 years.
I have an electric guitar---a Fender Squier Stratocaster (made in China ). It has steel strings and the distance between them is so small near the top it's almost impossible for me to hit only one string with a finger. I should probably either give up, for good, or try an acoustic guitar. If I could ever play Ben, like this gentleman does, I would think I had died and gone to heaven. I think he has an electric acoustic.
My favorite is an acoustic nylon string. The guy in your video is playing a nylon string. It sounds like he has a microphone pickup. He plays very nicely. Ben is a beautiful piece for classical guitar. I love this young lady. She uses a thumb pick and a wider neck steel string. I played Billie Jean once, but never as cool as this lady. She has a lot of amazing solo versions of all kind of songs on her You Tube.
Nov. 24, 2019 -- 09:15 PST --- AHEM!!! A homewrecker is what I am! Feeling remorse over my past mole assault and execution and this morning once again I ran into spider webs ... in my hall, bath, and kitchen. In all the years I have lived here, I have never had spiders build webs right out where I walk. Well. I lashed out in anger and squished the spiders and using my super duper static duster, I viciously destroyed their homes. I can't remember who calls me Hurricane Faye here on the forum, but he is probably a spider lover. The guilt is too much! How many mole skeletons are decaying deep below my house and how many spiders wrapped in toilet paper are making their way down the city sewer to the treatment plant. SIGH!
Nov. 26, 2019 04:10 PST --- My first round of morning forum time is gone and I just remembered my neglect of my little corner of this bottom feeding bog. Bill is taking a short leave and I am missing the wit of the harmonica man. I may return here today, but I am not on my game this morning. I just realized I haven't had my cup of coffee. No spiders assaulting me. I think I will go to my little studio and look for a project. 07:23 PST --- I couldn't dream up any DIY projects, so I am enjoying my hot chocolate while posting here on SOC. I made this video from my playing of Willie Nelson's CRAZY made famous by Patsy Cline. Not a very good rendition, but it did pass some time messing around with it.
Nov. 28, 2019 7:16 PST --- It just occurred to me that the lack of activity this morning is because it is Thanksgiving day in the USA. I decided that I will use my recipe for cornbread stuffing, dark chicken meat from a local grown Barred Rock, both blended with cranberry sauce, and a side of mashed Idaho red potatoes smothered with country style peppered gravy, and that will be my feast. It will be just me and I am happy and thankful to be alive and still on my feet. Now to fix meal #3 of the day, yes you read that correct #3, my whole grain mix with egg and milk, 8" flapjack, topped with natural peanut butter mixed with local wildflower honey and a cup of lightly coffee spiked dark hot chocolate with just a splash of expensive French brandy that a friend got me for my birthday.
Sounds great Faye. If the stores aren't open today, it will have to be hot dogs, or macaroni with spaghetti sauce here.
