    Unless it affects me, or someone has asked me for an evaluation, I don't generally feel the need to criticize someone unless my intention is to be critical. Sometimes it's just fun to be critical.

    My youngest son once asked me why I am so "standoffish", which hurt my feelings at the time. After much reflection, I realized that I am indeed standoffish and apparently I like it that way. :D (My son would never intentionally hurt my feelings but he was curious about his introverted mother.)

    Is it standoffish or the need to really check someone out before they get too deep into your personal space? Online is easy because you can close the laptop, however in real life, annoying people don't come with an exit plan, so then your stuck. :D

    @Von Jones
    I've posted this somewhere before, I do have a bad habit of butting in while other people are talking or completing their sentences or just talking over them. I REALLY wish I could make it stop, but I do it all the time even though I wish I didn't. I don't have to evaluate it because everyone around me knows I do it....and tells me. :D

    I have a habit of being quite cynical and snarky regarding some things and I know people are stunned by my remarks. I guess I've been around to many places and some of the stuff I hear just brings this out in me. I keep praying that I will be a nicer person when it comes to these subjects and simply smile. I'll be 87 in January and it still isn't working.:D

    It's standoffish. :D For example; a big holiday gathering. Ugh, I'd rather have my teeth pulled. I find a quiet corner and mostly watch the action, wishing I could vaporize and re-appear back at my own house. The older I get, the worse it gets.

    Lois, you and I are birds of a feather. Not only am I a snark master, but my foul-language filter has gone on the fritz.

    @Lois Winters At 87 and still smart and sassy like you are, being cynical and snarky are necessary attributes to keep the younger ones thinking. Without senior cynicism, all hope would be lost.

    Do I evaluate myself after someone has made comment about me or behavior?
    Yes
    Sometimes helps- sometimes not so much
    :rolleyes:

    I used to refer to it as "know your audience." I had a professional career at a major corporation, so I couldn't ever say what I was actually thinking. Until I was in my car on the way home. :D

    " Standoffish " Have been labelled that as well, just don't like to be in the center of a crowd, or listening to a bunch of conversation going all at once. Do have a dry sense of humour, people that don't know me find some of my comments somewhat confusing, my friends find it amusing, they're used to it. Am a overanilizer, could work on toning that down. Sometimes my words and mind don't work well together, that could be worked on. As far as perfection, i conduct that with myself only, not pushed on others, my perfection with what i do and accomplish is a me thing. I am working on my " Door Mat Status ". Been that far too long, going to replace with a new one.
