Same old same old for my seeing in the New Year. Used to actually celebrate the new year..Cant remember the last time I was asked to a New Year party. Suppose they dont want any old codgers around. So I watch some of the annual fireworks display and then hit the sack. There has been much controversy about the fireworks going ahead this year with our catastrophic fires still burning our state and near to the city.. but the mighty $ won out. Ignoring the dangers of adding more fine particle pollution to already dangerous pollution levels is plain lunacy. As many as a million people cram harbor views every year for this event.. many foreign tourists. How these people brave 40C temps in thick smoke haze for hours until it starts shocks me. But they do it.
