Communication and Friendships make sense but trying to develop a Romantic Relationship is nuts. There are specific forums for Boy meets Girl.
I haven't noticed any budding romances on the forum, so not sure what the problem is. In general, if people meet on a forum (senior or otherwise) and develop a romantic relationship, more power to 'em. (As long as there's no soap-opera for the rest of the posters to witness. )
I think romance makes sense at any time...at any place... at any age. I've not seen any of that going down on here, but if it did, it would be delightful to know that two of our members found love. I'm not at all sure why anyone would be even slightly offended by it.
It certainly does not offend me but given the circumstances under which most of us are living , finding and developing a romantic o relationship on line is impractical.
An online persona and the actual individual's persona could be two radically different things. Lonely and vulnerable seniors could be targeted for no good.
I'm not sure. Lots of people get married or even just choose to live together during their senior years. Sometimes, it can be for friendship, companionship and hey.....two social security checks. Some people are really unhappy after they find themselves living alone after the loss of a spouse. I was only 59 when my husband died. If I were someone who preferred companionship to living alone, I surely would have pursued it. They say the opera isn't over till the fat lady sings. A great many seniors still have some songs left.
That could happen at ANY age...or........maybe they find true love like @Yvonne Smith and @Bobby Cole . We never know what may be in our future.
What bothers me about being "hit on" by a guy on a site is, it is usually phony and so blatant. A little back and forth with someone in a friendly manner is very welcome. I chat with a fellow on here with brief messages and he's perfectly delightful. I always look forward to his messages.
