In Florida, we generally don't unless there is a tropical storm or hurricane warning. The weather doesn't fluctuate that much. Today, a good part of Florida is under a tornado warning, which is more rare for such a big area. Apparently, it is blowing in a cold storm. So far, the winter has been mild, but we usually get a couple of freezes in northern Florida throughout the winter season. I thought it better to bring in patio cushions and couple of potted plants. As I was doing this, I wondered how people in other parts of the world with more drastic weather changes have to change around their outside stuff. Do you have things in your yard that you have to take in or out on a seasonal basis?
When the growing season is over, anything related to growing comes in up here in this colder climate.
We put our patio umbrellas and pool lounge cushions in the garden shed for the winter, mostly to keep sun fading to a minimum. That's about it.
My mom covers hers during the summer with sheets.....defeating the whole purpose of getting pretty cushions. She could've bought some cheap fugly print and no one would've ever known since we are all sitting on the yellow sheets. Check out this set. I think it's amazing since it rolls into a ball.
That looks pretty cool. We have a pergola-type covering over our back patio, which is the hubby's designated smoking area. So the furniture there stays in place all year and gets pretty worn looking after a season or two. We will need to buy new furniture for that area this summer.
