And each state is different .. I stand by my statement because my health and my life is at risk.

I understand about businesses .. it's tragic .. but so is loss of life.

You are fortunate to live in a state with such low numbers .. my state is not that lucky at this time.

Apparently your state did something right.

Sadly .. too many people in my state keep this thing going.

And we aren't even into round 2 of this thing yet.

As seniors, we have all been through much worse catastrophes in our lives. Yes, I know that this thing has been labeled a planet killer but such labels are meant to do one thing: instill fear. A type of fear that doesn’t make us more aware of our surroundings but makes us seek a corner from which there is no escape.
This type of fear does nothing to keep death from our very doorsteps but rather keeps us from living life and to me, life in a corner is not worth living.

By all means we should indeed take some precautions but when fear begets those precautions and are the cause of much worse dangers then logic itself has succumbed to fear and we will all perish under the loss of it.

My state did nothing right. They closed the whole state over concern for that .15% of the population and more than half of the deaths(75) have been in nursing homes

No, the media and politicians with an agenda say that. Common sense tells me that this is kind of like the seasonal flu, but not as dangerous, and I don't do any of this nonsense for the seasonal flu.

You are all entitled to your opinions .. and so am I.

I've never stated that this is a planet killer because I do not believe that it is.

I do believe that this is far more than a normal seasonal flu.

I know what we are doing has helped us because we know a few people who didn't take precautions and we will never get to visit with them again as they have passed on due to this virus.

This is not the same as the seasonal flu, it is far worse, and my common sense is not as f'd up as you are trying suggest nor is my common sense a result of the BS media "reporting" that is seriously lacking in facts and reality and is simply loaded with personal agenda and attempted control.

Do your thing ... just stay away from me and my area because I am trying to do the right thing and live a little longer.

This thread is titled " Have You Followed The Stay At Home Requirement?" I entered to share my response to that .. not to be told I am an idiot and you are not.

I shared my opinion after having read all of yours simply to participate .. not to be attacked.

Hopefully, everyone understands that given the same stimulus and information, we all react to things differently and the chief part of that is how we view things. A matter of perspective.
For instance, in the heat of battle I have observed experienced men panic and unload an M-16 in seconds on automatic whereas someone else leaves the auto off and fires one shot at a time. Same battle, same circumstances, different perspective depending on one’s view of those circumstances.
Who was correct? Dunno. After all the information is compiled then we still have to look at who compiled the information and from what perspective that report is viewed.

Now, most certainly no one is calling you an idiot @Maggie Mae for we all know that above all else, you’re an intelligent individual. That said, if in your way of seeing things you believe that you are being attacked and are convinced that folks are debasing your intelligence level then that is how you see things. It doesn’t make it so but the belief is yours until you become convinced otherwise. A matter of perspective.

It is exactly the same thing as your own stay at home policy. You’re afraid and there is nothing anyone can say or do to convince you that you shouldn’t be and that’s okay. You view your information one way and others view the exact same information in another way. One view is seemingly out of fear and the other is possibly not fearful enough but both demand caution nonetheless.
Caution because uncontrolled it can run amok and cloud our judgement and logic and if there is not enough then the same thing happens.

There is a middle ground here but let’s face the facts. You’re going to do what you are convinced you should do and others will do what they are convinced they can do. No one is an idiot, no one is getting attacked and again hopefully, everyone realizes that in the end, everything is going to work out.

Virginia was never on Stay at Home orders, and at this late hour our governor has decided we must be masked when out shopping. This started today.

Except for the densely populate regions of Northern Virginia and the state capital, cases everywhere else in the state are declining.

I have not been going out as much not out of fear (for goodness sake, Swine Flu infection rates were over 30x this), but out of a need to avoid mingling with the compliant masses.

Blind obedience depresses me. And it's on many faces.

That is how we feel about this, too, @John Brunner , and we only go shopping when we need to. I have noticed that the people working in the stores are not even friendly anymore.
I think that the people in masks are all scared to talk to each other, and if you are not wearing a mask, the mask-wearers don’t want to talk to you for that reason, even if you are smiling and friendly.

I was reading on Twitter this morning that some restaurants say you have to wear a mask walking in to the restaurant, but once you sit down, you can remove it.
The rules on where we are controlled about this are just more than ridiculous, if people would only stop and think about it.

I signed up for a different Seniors Forum not too long ago, anticipating some degree of sanity among my peer group. I naively thought that there would be a degree of rational thought where fear might be tempered and conversations could be had. Uh, I was wrong.

I would say that 85% of those who speak on this issue are scared witless and will "do anything" for perfect safety.

Someone will comment "I can't wait to go picnic with my friends" and the response of "There will never be any more picnics in our lifetimes!" gets accolades, while my posts of "For goodness sake, there were over 30x the cases of swine flu than of this and it never even made the news" gets me shouted down. The media had us pooping out pants when there were fewer COVID cases nationwide than there were per state with the Swine Flu, and with most other flu seasons of the past decade.

We've never been required to wear masks before here in Virginia . Now our governor opened restaurants back up at 1/2 capacity, and concurrently decided at this is stage of the game that we all must wear masks while shopping, when this is mostly on the decline. We got 2 day's notice to go out and clear the shelves of masks.

The government "opened up the beach" (recall Obama's curtain obscuring views of the Grand Canyon?) but you must "social distance" and wear masks while standing in the 25 MPH ocean breeze!!! Except the governor went there for a photo op, and his face is more equal than ours, 'cause his was nekked.

The new mask order is mostly without teeth, but is not gonna end soon. He has asked the General Assembly to make this law when the next session rolls around in August. Gotta keep the destruction going into the election.

I did some trolling here, and of course there are varying opinions on this, but there seems to be more desire here for adult fact-based discussions and disagreements...as it should be.

We have a variety of thoughts about almost everything, which is a good thing, and to be expected. The nice thing, is that (most of the time ) we can discuss the topic itself, and not insult the person who thinks differently; so feel free to join in any of the conversations and share your thoughts and ideas, @John Brunner .
The only guideline that @Ken Anderson has is that we try not to be offensive to other people, and try not to be too easily offended.
Mostly, that is all that is needed, and we all enjoy each other.

@John Brunner I know the feeling I also was on other forum and found some very anti social.
When people wake up to find that all this nonsense is all politico and has little to do with health the mode will change. The farmers would brand animals to show ownership and now the medical mafia and media have told you to wear masks to see how many they own.

There are so many people who call it false machismo. They will only wake up when it's too late for them, and that's not gonna happen until their usefulness expires...and we gotta be shoved out of the way first.

This COVID thing is the perfect wedge issue. Life and death (real or perceived) knows no special interest group. This is not a Virtue Signaling thing. Everyone is vested. Just tell the sheep that the sheepdogs are out to kill them, and that the sheepdogs are the ones who are unmasked. False outrage and mob rule are the antithesis of Universality, and it's upon us. If they can rage with no repercussions at Cabinet members trying to dine, then who are we to fend off their attacks?

I've printed some stickies for the masks I bought until my MAGA masks arrive:

    At least I'll feel better.
