If what you have in mind is buying gold and storing it at your home, it might not be a good idea to discuss that in a public place. If I had anything as valuable as gold in my house, I wouldn't mention it. I understand that you can invest in gold without physically having it at your home, however.

I jumped on the gold and junk silver bandwagon around 2010, when the market was high. I had coins, and maybe one or two small bars.

Over the past 10 years it slightly declined. When it finally came back late last year, I liquidated at a slight loss and put it where it could "do some good" (mutual funds.) Since then gold has increased about 25% and my mutual funds, not so much.

I plan on writing an investment book in Arabic, because my advice only makes sense when followed right to left.

Most people invest in Gold and Silver on the fear everything will crash and they will have some value. If everything crashes who will exchange your gold for what you need to survive. The person who has food is not going to change his food for gold he needs to eat too. Better to invest in something that will be of benefit if the Sh*t hits the fan. Or if you are investing for no reason other than storing money where will you store it and if the banks fail who says you can get to a safety deposit box. Your decision me I will keep my garden plot and buy more seeds

That's the reason I kept junk silver and punted the gold. Not only do the silver coins have more recognizable status, they are in denominations that could be used in such a scenario. What are you gonna do with a $3,000 bar of gold? Or even a $200 gold coin?

Actually, in such a scenario, lead probably has the highest value. But you gotta be careful who you give it to, huh?
I agree that heirloom seeds are your best bet, even to trade. Even old ones will still have some germination rate.

Let's hope this always remains in the sphere of internet conjecture.

I don't make investments planning on doomsday; I make investments for the potential gains/returns. My preference is dividend-paying stocks.

Oh good heavens. You'd never learn how to use an Apple watch. Besides, you need to save those to pay for the Geek Squad visits. :p
