After getting tired of dragging out the step stool, I bought one of these today: My kitchen cabinets are getting so full that often-used stuff has started migrating to the top shelf. I've already used it a couple of times. I like it. It works well. You can rotate the claws 90°, and lock them in place when you've snagged something. I see why some folks commented that they keep one in several different rooms. It's not such a leap from the retreivers I've had for years with magnetic tips and little claws for getting things dropped down engine compartments. Under $10 in Walmart.
We have one of those, but because both my wife and I are short. I don't use it often because I forget it's there, and I believe that if God really wanted me to have that thing, he wouldn't have put it out of my reach.
When I was at the grocery store before I went to Walmart to buy this, a short Asian lady grabbed me to get a jar of jalapeños off of the top shelf for her. The world is designed for people within a set range of specs, that's for sure. Retail's gotta be the worst.
I have one that I moved to the bed room so I wopuld not have to bend so often. I now need one for thed kitchen again.
My wife has said on a number of occasions that people who set cabinets are tall and dislike short people. Then there are the times when she calls for me to come and get something off of an upper shelf. I nearly always get a kiss for helping her out but I still have to walk away wondering....”How the Heck Did It Get There In The First Place”?
LOL......I’m 6’1” and the day after a legs workout day, I can reach whatever is up, but I have to stretch out a little before I attempt to pick stuff up off of the floor. Sometimes, whatever it is just stays on the floor for a while because it’s simply out of reach for a bit.
I have a small wooden step-stool in my kitchen and I use it almost every day. I have also been known to stand on the countertop if the need arises.
I have a grabber. It doesn't fold, though. I wouldn't sell it for any amount of money if I couldn't get another one. I used to climb onto a chair to reach my top shelves but since I had vertigo a few years ago, I'm afraid to do that.
I am totally fine without a grabber....... it is lots more fun to just give Bobby a kiss for getting it down. (I am pretty sure that he hides those important things up there just so I will need to ask for help retrieving it.)
when we're traveling in the coach...i have one handy because i don't get up while my husband's driving..ha!
I use one for reaching for the newspaper on the porch so I don't have to step out, and there is one in the garage to pick up questionable things blown into the yard.
I'm 5' 10" and have a "Just outta" problem. Part of is it my small feet. Standing on tip-toe is an insufficient boost. If I wore a Size 11 rather than a Size 8 shoe, I wouldn't have had to buy this thing. Your potential issue, Lon, is not the distance to the top shelf, it's the distance to the floor.
If this is a "don't feel like getting dressed for that" story, I have some from when I was younger and dried my clothes on the line in the back yard. Thank goodness for tolerant neighbors.
