At least among people I grew up with, every mother always had a blue bottle of Noxzema, and I would steal some of it from time to time because I liked the way that it smelled. Over the past several years though, I was thinking that the company must have gone out of business or that they have taken the skin cream product off the market. That seemed odd because it had been so hugely popular, but it has been a long time since I have seen it in a store, and I looked for it a couple of times, out of curiosity. However, as some of you no doubt know, the Noxzema Company is still in business, but their product looks quite a bit different now. They still don't carry it in our local supermarket because I had considered that the branding may have changed.
I also just love the smell of Noxema, @Ken Anderson ! It seems to have more healing properties than just a regular face cream, too. I tried some of the dollar store variety; and it has that distinctive smell; but it just does not work as good as the real thing. I decided that Noxema is one of those items that it is worth spending the extra money to get the name brand and not the generic variety. In the summer, Noxema is great for when you are outside and get a sunburn. Or even just when you have chapped skin from working in the garden. Mostly, I use the cream that has coconut oil in it now, and I love the smell of coconut , too; but I still have the Noxema for when we want to use that. I remember that everyone had Noxema, back when I was growing up, and I think that it was the only kind that my mother ever used. Of course, she also had "Evening in Paris" cologne, and deodorant stick; which was also worn by just about all of us teenage schoolgirls back then.
Noxzema was the only skin care I used as a teenager for a very long time. I just may go back to using Noxzema now that I remember it. Isn't something how new things push old stand bys out of your mind.
I used it as a teen and remember the smell. I'll have to see if I can find it at walgreens. I also used Ponds as a teen or young woman and recently I bought some again and like the way it worked, certainly the price is right.

Article mentioned walmart having it but I hope to find it at Walgreens whixh is only a few blocks from me. It also mentioned Cover Girl in that article. I used their foundation and now I remember it smelling like Noxema. Funny I used foundation as a teen and haven't since.
I remember Noxema very well... the smell and the feel. I used it to wash my face, but it had a more important role for me a few times... sunburn. The worse one was from sitting hours watching the Apple Blossom Parade in Winchester, VA. It was nice... got to meet COL Sanders and Debby Boone... oh, and Dottie West now that I'm thinking of it, but it resulted in the worst sunburn I ever had in my life. The "oh man, should have gone to the doctor for something stronger" kind of burn. This was, by the way, back in the days before anyone heard the word sunscreen. We got burned and then treated it back then... no thought of actually preventing it. Well no one said *everything* was better in the olden days... just 99% of things!
I've gotten a few very bad sunburns in my day. Hope it won't be skin cancer one day. I don't tan, I burn but I always tried. Once after swimming in Lake Geneva in Wisconsin I came out of the water and felt a little burnt so I put baby oil on and layed in the sun. That required a Drs.visit.
My mother gave it to me for a bad sunburn, I never decided whether I liked the smell or not. My father hated the smell, said :Noxema knoxem' out".
Okay, I have about 3 Rite-Aids, all within 3 miles, I just prefer Walgreens for no particular reason. Guess I can check it when I go to TJ's as it's near there.
@Chrissy Page , here there's a Rite Aid, CVS and Walgreens on every corner it seems! On the few corners they aren't, it's Citgo gas and a doughnut shop of some kind. It's all the same.
It's the same here, Ruby. I have all 3 of those too. It's not CItgo here but Chevron though. I live on the border between Fresno and Clovis so I have double the stores available to me. My closest TJ's is actually in Clovis at about 1.5 mile distance. The one in Fresno is about 4 miles from me.
