    Hi all,
Strange and potentially dangerous thing happened today at my house. I wasn't home at the time my daughter and my grandkids along with my wife where, they we're going about business as
normal when my daughter noticed hazy smoke in the living room. She found the source of the smoke was a pillow that was smoldering from the Sun shining through a snow globe which acted like a magnifying glass. Apparently one of my grandkids put the pillow on the window sill where the snow globe was. We all felt this was a freakish thing that a snow globe could actually start a fire if the right item is next to it and the sun is at the right angle. Fortunately the only damage was to the pillow it had a 2 inch hole which did have but Embers but never a flame. Just thought you might want to know 4 safety reasons. I wondered how many people have had odd things happen that you would never expect.

Wow, how weird is that. I'm glad you noticed the "haze" before there was a full-blown fire. I can't think of anything odd that has happened to me lately, but I'll give it some thought. :D

How the heck do you explain THAT to the insurance company?
How would an investigator even figure something like that out?

Good thing everyone was at home.

    Hi Beth
Yes it could have been a disaster the one thing I forgot to mention there's also the smell of something burning. I want to apologize for my lack of knowledge on how to use this site. My prayers are with you.

Beth I'm trying to get the hang how to put topic in. I know how to reply that's pretty straightforward but the put a new topic in is little difficult for me right now I'll figure it out eventually.

If you want to have some fun, take some lint from your dryer filter, get a magnifying glass, go outside on a hot sunny day. Put the lint in a safe place like your BBQ grill. Focus the little dot of the magnifying glass on the lint and start it aflame. If you are ever lost, you can gather some dry pine straw or other easily flammable fiber and set it aflame with a magnifying glass. After it starts burning, add twigs then small limbs to your fire. The rescuers will see your smoke and you will be saved! :) When my grandson was in Boy Scouts, they were told to keep a toilet paper tube filled with dryer lint in their back packs, just in case.

Those are great ideas If Ever I go camping I'll be sure I take a magnifier and the tube of lint in my backpack of course if there's room between all the snacks.

I make wood stove fire starters out of wax and lint (I've also made them out of pine cones and wax.) But if you have potato chips, you got something even more flammable. Take one outside and set it on fire. Greasy little buggers.

So it seems we are well on our way to the perfect crime (or an average household disaster.)
Snowball + window + dryer lint or a bowl of chips
