Did you take the picture of the wild horse monument at Vantage, Washington, @Peter Renfro ? When I lived in Washington, we used to see that every time we were making a trip across the mountains to get from Western Washington to Eastern Washington, or back. The bridge at Vantage crosses the Columbia River, and as you go up the western side, there is a small park called the Ginkgo Pertified forest, which is really interesting and has trails where you can walk around and see the petrified trees. Along the banks of the river are places where the Indians carved into the rocks, and that it very interesting to see, too. The area has a lot of history there.
Yep that is the place. The missus looked up odd and interesting attractions and bookmarked them. We tried to hit as many as possible in our big trip.
This is an old picture of the Vantage Gorge, when Robin and I were on a cross-state trip visiting family. We often stopped at the viewpoint that is across from where the horses are at. In this picture , you can see across the Columbia River, and Robin is the little speck standing by the edge. She loves climbing around on things like this , and I was in a serious panic when she decided to go down over the edge. I am fussing at her and asked how she expected me to know if she had fallen off of the cliff. Her answer (so Robin !) was “Listen for the splash, Mom”.
Stunning photo ^^^ @Terry Coywin the photo should have pride of place in a special Christmas card. I’m a Aussie so I’ve no idea which building the Chrysler building ..I’m guessing the one lit up like a Christmas tree
The Chrysler building is the one on the far right background that's all lit up. It's one of the most iconic buildings in NY. As often as I've walked past it or even the Empire State building, I have never bothered to enter them. Typical of those of us who live here. They are always crowded with tourists. Many other sites in NY are always filled with visitors from everywhere.
