    One Way Or Another Get Rid Of Them. Anyone paying any form of taxes contributes, it's those that take benefits and use resources without contributing anything that is the problem.
    Even the Unemployed pay taxes.

    Not to be too critical but how about those financial overachievers who take every loophole they can find not to pay as much in taxes?
    And how do you plan on “getting rid” of tax evaders?

    All that said and all joking aside, if the fair tax were to be implemented there would be no such thing as those who do not pay taxes,

    As we grow older, I think most of us will fall into that category.

    I am fully aware that they are two different things, but Medicaid will pay for assisted living or nursing home care if needed and the patient is indigent. The means of care and the method of paying for it are different. My mother-in-law had long term care insurance, but it was useless to her, so she had to sell almost everything she had and entered assisted living first followed by nursing home care after a severe C. difficile episode that nearly killed her. She wasn't as fortunate, or perhaps as wise, in the choice of her insurance, as you were.

    Ya know Lon, again, all joking aside, if I were you I’d watch what I put on my computer.
    If one of the residents there suddenly dies under suspicious circumstances, what you have written in the last couple of days would put you at the head of the list of suspects.

    Killing the homeless and getting rid of non taxpayers etc sounds a little scary and would certainly raise the eyebrows of even the lousiest detective.

    @Ken Anderson

    Do marvelous and miraculous contributions made earlier in life negate the importance of presence of those who made them, in their old age?

    I have no solution to "eliminate" anyone. As far as I know (admittedly not very far), some street people made the choice to live that way. Who am I to decide what they should or should not do with their own life?

    As far as people homeless due to unfortunate circumstances, they should be given a hand up and shelter... especially if there are children. No child deserves to live on the streets or to go hungry in America.

    Perhaps Governor Cuomo in New York was thinking along the "euthanasia" line when he put all those sick people into nursing homes and group homes.

    This is where the money is most effective.
    There is no overhead and there is maximum accountability (to the extent it can be applied.)
