It's a wonderful season for plants this year and I'm sure my Honey's green thumb has something to do with that too. He has been busy lately potting some cuttings, etc. in some of my youngest daughter's planters since she lost almost all her outdoor plants this past Winter.
Let's hope it lasts for awhile. I cannot keep from my mind that April is considered the cruelest month. Of course that may pertain to the tax deadline of the 15th, but I have witnessed a blizzard on Easter a long time ago.
Here in the middle of Virginia, we recognize that you're not safe from frost until after Mother's Day. Before that, you're rolling the dice...even after 70° days (and we've already had a few, then a spate of snow this morning.) I've been white water rafting over Easter weekend and gotten snowed in with no way out of the campgrounds for a day or two. Of course, that was in West Virginia.
Spring has sprung and I'm happy to see the change. If I could I would rework my flower beds to celebrate the changing season.
I had wondered what had happened to you, @Tom Galty . Good to hear from you. Are you still in the UK?
Ugh! We had -14F once this winter. House felt like a block of ice. I wore a coat i th house for a week.
I suspect we are more prepared for the low temperatures than you are @Bill Boggs , but if it got over 100 F. here, we would definitely have trouble. When I lived in a Native village, the Eskimo peoples became almost non-functional when the temperature reached 70 F., but they were perfectly fine at -40 .
It's an absolutely GORGEOUS day in Houston; blue skies and 68 degrees outside. Of course I have a pounding headache from the high pressure system sitting over the area, but it brought a beautiful day.
Have Toms Chilies leeks and sweet corn growing on my window sill be ready to plant out next month. Beetroot and carrot seeds to plant outside soon. Cant wait
The Clovers and my favorite yellow ditch flowers growing in our front yard right now. My sister told how to zoom in on my phone to bring the flowers, etc. closer so hopefully my next pictures will be better. The Robins and Cardinals are also feeding and playing in the bird bath...hope to share that too. I just love Spring! By the way we are planting some Sunflowers this Spring.
