    I've seen Chunky candies in stores within the past couple of years, I think. I know they are still being made.

    I think I've seen them also, but I did read that they are somewhat different in size or packaging....nothing is ever the same. :(

    I can't remember how much they cost when I ate them in the early 60's but they were one of the higher priced ones.

    I really don't even know how much candy bars cost today. I do know that I can buy boxes of whoppers and sour patch kids at Walgreens for $1.00. :)

    That's usually what I sneak into movie theaters in my BIG going to the movies purse. Bottled water also.

    WOW! We used to have a DQ here, but it's been gone for many years. I never ate there, but if I'd known they bought OJ, I would have! There was a later addition to OJ called pineapple julius. It was really good, but nothing could top the orange.

    I was just thinking the same, Ken... and I can't remember where. I *think* it may have been in the craft store, A. C. Moore (I mentioned that yesterday about the Horehound candy, too)... because they have an old-fashioned candy section near the checkout counters.

    Something else I saw recently was "Sky Bar"... my daughter got one and it was really cool... four different flavors of candy in one "bar" shaped package, I thought at the time that it may have been one of those old ones because a new chocolate brand rarely escapes me :) but I'm not real sure if it's old or new. I know that I'd like to find it again, though!

    6th grade classmate tried to get me hooked on those cards -- and yes, Mallo Cups were delish -- but I think they were a dime, could stand corrected on that price tho.

    At any rate, my Mon.-Fri. "allowance" was a nickel per day. This was spent on either five hard pretzels or a pkg. of bubble gum baseball/football cards (depending on the time of year). Couldn't even afford a sour pickled onion which went for six cents.

    So I figured it would take 18 months before being able to cash-in on 10 Mallo Cups, and didn't get hooked after all.:)

    when i was a kid my thing was hostess chocolate cup cakes-
    every time i got a nickel thats what i bought
    the rest of the family didnt like chocolate
    then the darn cup cakes went up to a dime but you got 3 cup cakes

    I have recently discovered that I don't care for asparagus anymore. I used to love it and we'd have it at least once a week during the season. (Just say no to canned or frozen asparagus...yuck.) Anyhow, the last couple of times I have made it, it just didn't appeal to me at all. I suppose I'll still make it occasionally since my husband likes it, though. I usually steam it with butter or roast it with olive oil and sea salt.

    I have always been so-so on asparagus. I rarely ever have it because my wife says she doesn't like it, although I doubt she's ever tried it and, while I think it's okay, it's not something that I crave.

    I really like asparagus, and so does Bobby; so when it comes on sale in the spring, we always have some. I just steam ours, and take it off before it starts losing the pretty green color. I don’t much care for the canned stuff, either, but will eat it if that is what I have. My mom always got the canned asparagus, so that is all I ever had growing up, and didn’t know how delicious fresh asparagus tasted.
    An interesting thing that i read was that the pioneers used to have some food called “sparrow grass”…….turns out that it was asparagus.

    Apparently, there is a giant variety for people who really love their asparagus…..

    As a kid, liked a splash of milk in my cool aid...gag at the thought now
    I also like catsup on my scrambled eggs, have not eaten them like that since about 14.Never ate any vegetables at all until late twenty's early thirty's. A pickle was my idea of a veggie then.

    I was thinking earlier that I used to love a fried egg with a runny yolk to dip my buttered toast in. For years now the thought of a runny yolk gives me the skeeves. :D Wonder why that happened.

    Just thought of another one. When I was a kid my mom would occasionally serve fried Spam with eggs for breakfast, I assume on leaner payday weeks. :D During last summer's pandemic grocery panic, I bought 2 cans of Spam for my "emergency pantry stash" and recently got one out to try while checking expiration dates on cans. And may I say, "YUCK." I ate one slice, my husband declined to even taste it. :D So I tossed both cans into the trash.

    I love me some Spam! And when I lived in Hawaii it was impossible to escape. If you and the Hubs are ever in HIlo, go to Ken's Pancake House and order the Loco Moco with Spam instead of the traditional hamburger patty. Mmmmmm
