Beth I am sorry to hear about your diagnosis.. I was referring to how we think about things, not about the actual 'things' that occur.
I can kind of relate..I had breast cancer diagnosed 2x...I'm totally fine now but the mental factor was important in my 'journey'.
I wish you all the best!!

Thank you, Joan. Sorry to hear that you have also had to deal with cancer (twice!) but glad to know you came out fine. It's a rough ride for certain.

I'm trying not to take the word 'everything' literally because I know that I can't even in my own little world. I'm a caretaker of my world and that's not the easiest to do.

Thanks I almost feel guilty on being congratulated for being a 'survivor' because honestly, it was not hard for me. It was harder on my girls and husband. I kept working and the chemo was not unbearable..mostly just a little discomfort. My heart goes out to so many others who had a really hard struggle and pray they have good outcomes..

Control freaks are just that; freaks. There are certainly some situations in life that require control, but anyone with an over whelming need or desire to control all situations have a serious problem. I avoid such people whenever possible since it usually culminates in a most negative outcome.

Barring those things that I cannot control when it comes to my personal being, I am held accountable for my own actions and am responsible for my own choices in life so within that realm I had better be in control!
Just as no one other human being is held accountable for what I do, I cannot lay any claim nor am held responsible for what someone else does whether it is good, bad or indifferent.
Which, is why I hate giving advice. The person giving the advice rarely if ever has to suffer the consequences should said advice be taken and goes south.

Now, there is an area which the OP has left totally open which is when a person is supposed to control everything around himself or herself.
Examples: If one is the lead or in management in a work environment then that person assumes the mantle of responsibility for whatever happens in that environment.
If one is teaching or giving a lecture, being in control of the room is mandatory.

Another area omitted in the OP is self confidence. Can a self confident person be mistakenly construed as being a dominating individual? Absolutely.

i consider the world you create in your home should be a haven from the big world....with your own values and ideal system...
    that world is sacred
