They contracted what they thought was excess fuel to California before the winter disaster.

In the eighties, I put in an active solar array. The government offered a FIFTY percent rebate on it. It did not work for our area. The government throws money at everything. It is only taxpayer's money; so why not? If solar and wind actually worked everyone would be buying it. The dinosaurs should not be dictating anything nor the green people. Things that work are being developed and when they work they will be what we will use. In the meantime, wind and solar paid for by the government is wasteful. It does not give us anywhere the energy we need yet. It and other things should not be forced on us.

    Exactly!

It was lack of foresight and mismanagement of the energy grid that, along with an extreme climate-change-related weather event, that caused the crisis.

Yes, that's true. But the technology can't be developed if the 'dinosaurs' block incentives and funding for that development.

    I'm baffled!

I've posted several links on this thread to information about promising new post-fossil-fuel research that would correct current shortcomings of solar and EV and so forth if that research were given funding and incentives.

But no one seems interested in reading and thoughtfully discussing scientific information. It's almost as though they'd rather keep playing the same old group-think-tape-loops in their heads, and reflexively reject anything that doesn't come from alt-reality websites or random war cries on Twitter.

I don't expect anyone to change their mind about anything, but you'd think there'd be some interest in the amazing new 'green' research, and a willingness to at least read the articles and consider the possibilities!

If you recall, Obama gave a ton of funding to a solar company that went belly up. Bush threw money at my type of solar which did not work. We are all for clean energy but the green people fund those companies that keep them in office. The dinosaurs may fund oil companies and go to war over those that keep THEM in office.
Tesla has window and roofing products that would probably work but they follow the money.
I don't think anything is done for the people by the government except a few crumbs. A simple law overseeing credit reporting agencies would solve identitiy theft. A picture id available to everyone would solve election fraud. Some private people are trying to clean up the oceans because governments won't. Todays governments have their agendas to take more from citizens, not help them.
I was talking to a precocious nine year old who knew about how to make water powered cars. The powers that be know about these and your promising new post fossil fuel research. Nothing in it for them yet. It doesn't matter about saving the planet. Save the politicians' bank accounts.

What's blocking post-fossil-fuel technology is the Fossil Fuel Industry. It's determined to derail anything that threatens its profitable status quo, and literally writes many of the bills it lobbies Congress to pass.

Many elected politicians have a sort of 'dual citizenship' in that they move from Industry to Government and back again, over and over, until there really isn't much 'government' left.

Sad to say, but we're now in a Corporate Autocracy, with business and banking running the show, and stealing quality of life from the citizens.

Same with the Health Insurance Industry, which is thrilled to see masses of people condemning universal health care as 'socialist.'

As for the 'water car,' the patent for its apparently simple and virtually free operation was bought by a car manufacturer (I don't recall which one) and vanished into some vault somewhere, never to be seen again.

The only thing close to the water car since then has been a technology that separates oxygen and hydrogen in a power-guzzling industrial process. Hydrogen-filled 'power cells' are then sold to car owners at what's probably a steep price (I don't know the amount).

It wasn't government that buried the water car in it's original form. It was business as usual!

No, it was ERCOT at work.

Had the links you posted been truly scientific, then I think maybe a discussion about such science would have occurred. The problem is as I have posted several times on this site, is that this so-called cutting edge technology isn't possible because it isn't based on proven science but ideas of producing something out of nothing. I break it all down to the basics. Solar requires massive direct current storage and therein lies the problem. Inefficient and not practical and producing solar cells, batteries, and invertors cannot be done in a way that meets the "green" environmentally friendly standards. Also, it requires massive fossil fuel consumption to produce these nonfossil fuel energy alternatives.

My attempts to discuss such here have been futile because very few here understand the difference between AC and DC electricity and can make a post in their own words how these NEW cutting edge technologies will work. The discussion always drifts into fairy tale land and nonsense about how Tesla invented a device that would transmit electricity that we could all tune in and get for free.

I for one don't give a fat rat's tail about links with their fake science. I want to read your own words and pick your own brain because otherwise as I said it is a waste of time to discuss things you personally don't understand and aren't willing to learn. Do you understand what volts and amps are and how they determine wattage? Do you understand ohms law and resistance? How about farads and capacitance? How about RF and wavelengths? How about transformers and invertors? How about line loss?

If you don't understand at least the basics, then you are just taking someone else's word for it. Link and article swapping doesn't prove anything.

So, Faye, we need to check with you about which science or scientist is fake or not. Gotcha. Also, I suspect that a lot more of us are up on the lesson that you threw at us.
I might add that you might look around the country and the world without filtering out what doesn't fit your political pov.

Like it or not, petroleum products and "fossil fuels" remain an important contribution to our modern lives and aren't going away anytime soon. People seem to forget that the various government taxes on a gallon of gasoline are the reason for the high price at the pump. Sadly, congress can be bought by ANY of the high-powered lobbyists, so making the fossil fuels industry seem like the only evil is short-sighted.
