True true, but discussion boards used to be (and still are to some degree) far more open to actual arguments/debates. Facebook is so sterile in that regard, it is just about the most fake 'society' around. As a result I locked down my facebook account and reduced it to close friends and family only, just a way to keep in touch. Still feels artificial, though, even with the changes. I tried one other board before finding this one, and it seemed great but then I realized the moderation was super stringent, and the people too far to the left for my taste, lol. I'm not far to the right, just solidly and stubbornly in the middle. Far left, far right, far as I'm concerned they actually share a whole lot of traits.
If I like what you say or agree with it I give it a like. Sometimes I do because it is funny and I do reply too at times. What I don't understand is people will put up a post and not want to discuss it . They just want 'echo's ' of their post from the clique which is usually glad to oblige.. But then thats human nature I guess. Seems forums are just discussion sites yet nobody will debate or discuss their opinions with opposing views.I think its the society we live in now.
Man is that ever spot on, Marie. A lot of people no longer want their views challenged. One reason I wanted to return to the discussion board option is that it is generally more fun to debate with strangers, don't end up with a lot of butt-hurt with family, haha. But as you point out, even discussion boards are evolving. What appeals to me about this board is that these four conversation-killers appear to be absent: Butt-hurt wokeness, extreme political correctness, cancel culture, and (I'm about to find out what is allowed here and what isn't) clusterfuckery.
You can actually use any kind of an avatar picture that you want to, @Marie Mallery . Some of us use an actual picture, and some do not, and some of us just use whatever we feel like and change the avatar picture every so often. You probably noticed the Thanksgiving/turkey avatars some members used, and now we will be seeing more of the Christmas ones. I enjoy seeing people use different avatars, but picking something and just using that works fine, too; what is important is to use an avatar picture, regardless of what you choose to use.
@Marie Mallery .are you ever going to change your avatar ? It would be nice if you would.. be creative
I was going to use a picture but don't have an account with this new piece of work called Windows 10.I have one on Windows 7 laptop but not on this new laptop W-10. I'm not using Gravatar whatever that is.
If you have any pictures in your photostream on your computer, you should be able to just choose that file and use that. If you can put it in a post on this thread, Ken can make it your avatar. Another workaround that we can do until you can post pictures, is tell us what you would like to have as an avatar picture, and then Ken can post that for now. Edit to add: I see that you have posted pictures in some of your posts, so you should be able to do the same thing to add a picture for your avatar. If you can’t make that work, then just post it in this thread and Ken will fix it for you, @Marie Mallery .
