My well water is so hard it brought back my kidney stones and ruined a nice coffee maker. I went to bottled until I installed a water softener and put (2) inline filters in, mainly to trap all the flakes of mica that were getting in my toilet valves. I have a Brita pitcher, but it's mainly just to have some cold water on hand...the water does not need to be filtered again after going through the filters & the softener.

When I first got my water tested, it was through a program sponsored by the state university's extension office. They offered a one day (12 hour) class in well ownership. I was a Registered Master Well Owner, but think my certificate expired. I learned a lot.

No doubt. I would think that 30 miles = short wave. She'd better wear asbestos gloves when using those babies.

Oh, they're playing the same game as Macy's (Macy's Money) and Kohl's (Kohl's Kash). :D "Here's a $10 "reward," come on back and spend $150!!"

These guys were like Penneys: give you a flat $10 off a minimum purchase, a flat $20 some other minimum purchase, then a coupon for 10% off a purchase over $xxx, and several other combinations & permutations. A friend and I used to get each other to review our orders before mailing them in to see if we were using the best coupon combination. And after all of that, the deal was maybe marginally better than just buying the stuff elsewhere (meaning their raw prices stank.) Yet we still played the game...

I used to be the same way. I bet I still have my coupon holder with the category dividers in it. But when you mostly buy house brands, the only coupon worth anything is the store-sponsored one. But back in the day, my Sunday mornings were spoken for...just me & my scissors.

I've been exploring the outer boundaries of my property. There is an old creek that runs through it (it gets real interesting at spots) and I've been doing a little hunting for arrowheads and anything else that catches my eye. I walked it for 2 hours today and not found much of value except the diversity I'm privileged to be surrounded by. I'm angry with myself that I didn't get out and do this sooner...

So I watch vids and read the forums of others who do this, and there are some interesting tips. Some guys get out after dark with a flashlight and hunt stuff because the beam keeps their eyes focused on. Others take pictures of the area and load them on the computer to view, as the camera optics catch things with a different eye. The creek is deep in some spots and a little wide in others, so I thought I'd get these to take with me:

They fit in my pocket, and might present things to my eyes a little differently. And they're less than $10...SHIPPED COST!!! So I know they're kwality!

(I'm not taking my good binoculars out there.)

As the hapless victim of yet another online sale, I have ordered another handbag that I don't need. (But a package, tho!!) I'm also expecting a pair of jeans tomorrow.

I use them all the time for looking at critters & birds.

And there is nothing as awe-inspiring as looking at a full moon through a good set of binoculars. I've seen a lot of stuff through my telescope, but there is nothing quite like that sight.

Besides, they're too powerful for such up-close work.
