This “couple” went missing in March last year and their disappearance was one of Australia’s great mystery’s Until last week when a commercial well respected Jetstar and international pilot was arrested and charged with their murders . OMG what sort of people are flying out aircrafts …..we put our lives in the hands of there’s men. He is married ,had children and was well respected in-his neighbourhood He had a car police were looking for ( old 4 Blue wheel,drive ) so he had it planted cream ….Alarm bells he was guilty of something When I say a couple Russel the missing man was married and his wife had no idea he was having an affair with Carol the missing lady for a rumoured 20 years , they would regularly go camping some 350km from where they both lived to ovoid being noticed/ seen together . Their tent was found burned to the ground and his car scotched by the fire ,and his special toy he owned being a drone missing Remains of two people were located by police yesterday ( it’s rumoured the killer gave the police clues where to find the remains ) however it can’t be conformed until further tests are carried out before confirming if it’s Carol & Russel……. however it’s obvious it’s them. I had not heard of this before, @Kate Ellery . Are you saying that the murderer killed those two people because they were having an affair, and he knew them both. Or he just accidentally came upon them camping out and killed them for some other reason ? It is hard to understand why an international pilot would drive such an old vehicle, unless it was just one that he used when he was out in the hills.
We seldom get news from Australia here in the U.S. unless it’s of international interest. I imagine the story is big over there.
No …it’s not known why he killed them @Yvonne Smith I don’t believe he even knew the “couple “ it’s rumoured they may have had an argument over the drone that Russel owned that has not been located . The accused is in custody till he appears in court in May 2022 and of course has been suspended from his job. What ever reason it’s NO excuse to kill someone ,the area is a huge wilderness and it was reported on the nightly news last night they would have never found the remains if they’d not been given info where to find the deceased. Kate, they had an affair for 20 years and no one knew about it? I find that doubtful. I wonder if they will find any connection between the killer and the husband and wife of the dead couple. I think there is some kind of connection between the killer and the dead couple. Maybe he was hired to kill them? I don't think he just encountered them in the wild and killed them.
That was my thoughts as well, @Shirley Martin . There is just a lot of empty spaces in this whole story, to be sure. A fight over a drone doesn’t seem to me like it should end up in murder, which is what they are suggesting was the cause. I have trouble understanding why someone who was an airline pilot would want to do murder for hire, since pilots generally make excellent money from their jobs. The story said that the sister of the murdered woman knew about the affair, but it seems to me that an affair that lasted for that many years was probably at least suspected by more people than just one person.
The murdered woman Carol was the president of the Country Women’s Association. CWA is a organisation of country women getting together for crafts / cooking. They run a morning tea / lunch cafe at annual shows and usually make all the food including scones and the jam to go on the scones….I never got involved in the CWA except for buying their cook books which are good. The group where I lived prior to meeting hubby in 1986 was very gossipy and would tut tut and criticise others cooking that was entered in-the annual show …. So can you imagine what some are saying about Carol and Russel… OMG the gossip would be in overdrive . The CWA also have homes in country areas ( including where I live ) they rent out for holidays as well as having very expensive large homes in prestige areas of the city that country women travelling to the city can stay in at a $$$ Who knows what happened to them we may never know unless Greg Lynn opens up and tells all but what a huge downfall for his family ( 2 kids from a first marriage ) apparently the first wife died ….he got married again and has another child . Apprently he flew planes for Jetstar ( domestic jets ) and also overseas ( Qatar )
I’m suspicious of the fact his wife ..who’s never appeared on TV since this story appeared when they disappeared 20 months ago Surely a wife would be suspicious of any phone calls / he would have surely received from Carol in between camping trips and any lack of affection towards his wife …..maybe ..who knows @Yvonne Smith Apparently they ( Russel and his wife ) attended Carols wedding some years ago …..but no mention of her husband or any children Strange me thinks …
Funny how "these people" never fit the mold. I bet many pilots have egos the size of buses, just waiting for a fuse to be lit. What's the likelihood that his drone caught the cheaters unawares out in the middle of nowhere and that's how the players encountered each other? And exactly what happened to his first wife? And how do people who cheat manage to maintain a relationship for 2 decades?????
The drone belonged to the murdered camper @John Brunner it’s never been found . The suspect allegedly had an argument with his wife and fled to the area which is about 4 hours travel from his home As sad as it is for the family’s it’s sounding like a best selling movie script .
My first thought was, "How can the pilot be so stupid that he couldn't get away with murder in a truly wilderness area?" People are murdered or disappear here all the time and the murder is never found even if the bodies are found, unless they are somehow connected. Perhaps the Aussie police are better at their jobs than Alaska cops are.
I believe the only way the suspect came to be questioned over the disappearance of the couple whom they are now describing as “Companions” Was …there is a traffic camera on-the main road leading to the wilderness area ..that camera captured a old dark blue 4 wheel drive leaving the area while it was still dark on-the night the tent / possessions of the victims was set on fire . The story was featured on 60 minutes about a week before the suspects arrest after several people identified the suspects car towing a trailer ( which he sold on gum tree ) after murders had taken place and police believe he may have used to take the bodies away from the camp site ,before setting fire to their tent / and all their belongings. Police are appealing for the buyer of the trailer to come forward …surely if they have a rego number they could trace it ..if it’s been registered . His neighbours were interviewed by 60 mins crew who described how he’d had the old 4 wheel drive repainted from Blue to cream…..that would ring alarm bells loud and clear he was guilty as ….
It boggles the mind. How can purported adults have no concept of "consequences"? Screwing around is one thing, but the consequences of taking another life are pretty life altering...even if you don't get "caught." Then there's actually committing the act. Oh...and setting their stuff on fire. Why, that there's sheer genius, that is. Stealthy little bugger...
