The arthritis pain supplement advertised on TV , etc. Has anyone here tried it ? If so, has it helped ? It has some stated side effects [loose stolls/possible nose bleed etc] that give me pause, and it requires 12 pills per day .......... That's a bunch [IMO] So I'm being cautious !
I don’t know anything about the product nor at this point do I have a need for arthritis relief but you’re right for being cautious. Arthritis isn’t just one thing going on but inflammation definitely is a major factor when it comes to pain. Now, how taking 12 pills per day is going to help all the happenings and reasons for arthritis I do not know. Maybe look it up on Amazon or other on line sources and get some opinions from those who use it.
I have never used the product, but I looked into it at one time. While most people seem to get some relief from it, a scientific paper I read on it said that most of the relief is provided by the turmeric in the supplement, but there is an inert but inexpensive herb added to it that takes up most of the weight of the product. That is all I can say. The author of the paper recommended just taking the turmeric and skipping the cheap ingredients included in the product. I was turned off by the fact that you have to sign up for a subscription to get the stated price. That tells me that they are not confident in the efficacy of the product but believe that people will be too lazy to cancel the subscription.
Ron, have you ever tried CBD Deep Rub? We have a 500mg jar of it and it helps our pain. The jar isn't only 2oz., costs around $90, but it works. Also, for my pain, the "achy" type, I have two VA Medical prescriptions. One is 800mg Ibuprofen and the other is 50mg Tramadol. On the mornings (9AM) I take the Tramadol, I take an 800mg Ibuprofen also. I'm close to 100% pain-free until around 6PM or later. I take the Tramadol two days in a row, skip a day, and then take it again. Sometimes I will skip two days and then take. But, I never take the Tramadol three days in a row. Just how long have I been taking this 50mg (lowest mg there is) Tramadol? For some 7 years now.
I have tried CBD rub, in 500/750 & 1000 mg strength. Tried it for a full three months .... it seemed that at the strongest strength , I got minimal relief at best ..... and then only on the days of light pain. I have not tried the Tramadol. Yes it is pricey , but maybe I'll give it another try ??
In case you didn't know, Tramadol is classified as a narcotic now. It connects to a nerve in the brain that stops the mind from feeling the pain. The Ibuprofen reduces the inflammation. So, together, I can really get by. My next attempt will be to get a Cortisone shot in one shoulder or both. However, I tried a Cortisone shot in my right hip, for bone-on-bone pain, but it didn't work. Ended up getting a full hip replacement in 2005. I can only hope that, somehow, I won't need to take the 50mg Tramadol and 800mg Ibuprofen the rest of my life, but. One thing for sure, I don't like pain! By the way, I've also tried CBD Gummies and CBD Oil Liquid (eye dropper) type. Neither works very good for me. I still have some CBD Gummy Squares and the Oil left. Took 1/2 of a Gummy Square last night to see if it would help me get back to sleep. I was also having some pain in both shoulders. The 1/2 Gummy definitely helped me get back to sleep and darn near completely rid of my shoulder pain, even if it was for just a few hours.
I tried the oil as well .... no help. Did/do you still need the pain meds for the hip ? after the replacement ? They tell me I need .... a hip,a knee & a shoulder. And likely another hip @ a later time. I just do not want that many surgeries . Trying to find an alternative , that might at least bring some relief. I do not ecpect miracles.
I know a guy who got 100% relief from his rheumatoid arthritis by taking turmeric supplements. He used GNC brand, and ditched his prescription meds. I looked into adding those to my supplement regime, because anti-inflammatories are a good thing. But there is a list of potential side effects if taken for longer than 8 months, mostly thinning of the blood and elevated blood sugar (just as there is a list of side effects to pharmaceuticals or to anything you take in excess.) Since I did not need turmeric to remediate an ailment, I passed on it. Here is an article discussing the side effects. This is on a pro-turmeric website that has information on dosage, quality, how to take it, etc. Here is their page on arthritis. They discuss specific supplements. They get referral dollars as an Amazon Affiliate, but do not have their own product the are pushing.
My hip replacement was done in Oct 2005. I had bought a new saddle, put it on a saddle stand and tried to sit in it. Depending on a person's weight, they can sit in a saddle that is sitting on a sturdy saddle stand. Anyway, I couldn't lift my right leg up and over the saddle. I knew something was wrong. An x-ray, and MRI, showed bone-on-bone in the hip. I also walked with a small limp on that leg. After watching a YouTube video of a hip replacement, I almost didn't get the surgery. But, after talking with my wife, decided it was best. After surgery/rehab, and the rehab wasn't fun either, I could walk without a limp and pain was gone. BUT, today, some 16 years later, if I walk to much, I start to feel some pain in that replacement hip. No, I don't take anything for the hip, but, if need be, will put some CBD Deep Rub on it. The hip is the only "replacement" that I've ever had done. Replacement surgery/recovery isn't fun, but there are definite benefits to it. My rotator cuff surgeries (one on each shoulder) wasn't fun, but even with the osteoarthritis pain I get, I still have FROM (full range of motion) in each.
