Happy to read that all went well !!
I had 3 at the VA and 1 Civilian procedure and I do hope if I ever have another one, I get it done by a civilian doctor again.
The civilian put me out but the VA? Naw….just a little something going through the I.V. to make me relax.

Edit: The civilian doctor didn’t actually do my procedure but did oversee it. This absolutely gorgeous bombshell whom I thought was going to be the anesthesiologist looked over at me and announced that she was going to be the one who was going to be up close and personal with me.
Didn’t even offer to take me to dinner first !!

I think the idea is that if you don't have a family history of cancer, and have not formed any lesions by age 75, the likelihood of developing cancer after that point is almost nil. If you have formed lesions of any kind, the exams never stop. There is a similar thought with the DRE and prostate cancer. If you have a prostate of normal shape and size, and a PSA that is not elevated, the DRE and all that can stop as well. I think they just decided that it was wasting time and money to do unnecessary procedures on old people.

Congrats on your good results. I've never had one but over the years I've experienced a lot of "pains in the a.."

@Beth Gallagher Glad you scoped out what @Shirley Martin did. Nothing like a peep behind the scenes.

I have had 11 colonoscopies over the last 20 years. The second to the last was a lifesaver. I have never had one that they didn't cut out several polyps. I plan to keep taking the long in the shorts until age 90.

I am disappointed that my medical spelunker refuses to give me a 25% discount since I had 1/4th of my colon removed. No sense of humor I tell you!:(

None here and I'll be 84 this Summer.

Mom and Dad lived into 90's and never had one, Nor did aunts/uncles that I can recall.

I'm counting on the Grape Seed Extract I've been taking for 26 yrs soon..It's being used in cancer research clinics
for Colon, Breast, Prostate and Skin Cancers. Maybe other cancers since I read the info on the 4 types above. When I was first
introduced to Grape Seed Extract we ere advised "it may prevent cancers"....that was in August 1995.

I pretty much left modern medicine world in the 80's and have been supplementing about 40 yrs or so. Not a great fan of
pharma, but that is me....did my share of pharma.

Just posted this info on another forum and it needs to be here. Someone on that group posted about colonoscopies.....that's why the reference,

Since we're talking about Colonscopies I'll throw this subject in since MANY men will face prostate issues in their lives.

As always do your own research, I have been doing mine for decades and I purely offer information.

Disclaimer: Those taking drug blood thinners can't as a rule take both.

The 2 links are about Prostate support and I believe they need a thread of their own.

This is probably why it was moved to the colonoscopy thread.

    Is there a prostate thread?

For myself, I think Colonoscopies are a wise choice on my part, but I'm not jumping for joy
about having my 3rd one next month, only three throughout my life, this I want to be the last.

I had both endoscopy, down into stomach, and colonoscopy not too long ago. All was about as good as could be hoped so doc told me, no more for me, those were the last (I’m 75). FWIW, this last time was the first time I took pills (on doc’s orders), instead of drinking all that fluid. I prefer the pills, even though my insurance wouldn’t cover them. I had vomited a few times on previous preps trying to drink all that liquid.
