I doubt it. When I look at local available networks they are all private and password protected.

I eliminated my cables and tried using an app that had news and entertainment options. However when I tried to use it I was told that the channel was notinmy yv list. What adumbthingtodocreate anapp for a smart-tv that depends on a cables lineup. I uninstalled the app

My Vizio never worked well, so I disconnected it from the router. No problem here with the turning itself on issue, but one of my friends had the issue with her tv in her RV parked out of range of anything but satellite connections and she had it wake her repeatedly. That person removed the power from the TV every night when they went to bed and the problem stopped.

When I was 7 I had permission to stay up and watch the monster flick every Friday night. There were only two stations in Houston at the time, every night at midnight TV ceased to exist until 6am. It was mental torture to see that test screen come on screen. Now I just stay up half the night for kicks, sometimes there is a good movie on but not often. I hate those Marvel Comic movies, soon as the header comes on and I see it is Marvel off it goes.

I remember that. We had "Chiller" as our Friday night horror show.

    Then the Star Spangled Banner.
    Then "Pffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff"
    And this:

The number one advertiser in Houston at the time was JAX Beer, evening news was like 5pm and of course that put a clamp on the cartoon shows. Today I love news, it is so important to all of us. In 1953 not so much, it was like the Grinch stealing Christmas everyday at 5pm. One thing I miss today is the free mailed samples of grocer products. In the early fifties they were even putting two slices of bread on your mail box. Everything you could imagine was in our mail. My favorite was shopping day on a Saturday every Saturday, the Kiddie Corral which had a huge table and chairs in the front of the store, just covered with every kind of comic you could imagine. Free Feathered Indian Headbands and candy for the rugrats. Lord I loved it !

Actually, I love that the pay apps are available on the smart TV. Since we pay for premium channels with cable, I can use my login credentials on a smart TV to access those channels without paying for another cable box. Two TVs in spare bedrooms don't have cable boxes but can access HBO, Showtime, etc. with the apps.

I love that the guy has the cross on. When the My Pillow guy first started barking out commercials he ALWAYS had that giant cross on a chain, positioned for visibility no matter how they had to arrange his shirt collar. My, how subtle.

Yes, I did, Von. Thanks for the suggestion. It's so random time-wise that I really didn't think it was a timer but I checked anyhow.

Dr. Fayez possible diagnosis scenarios. Something has changed recently in your immediate neighborhood, most likely your house. Did you get any new "smart" devices? Any fat kids next door with recent birthdays playing video games in the wee hours on their new high-powered remote controller? Any radio operators in your area? The signal may be from something generating the fundamental frequency or from high-powered transmitted harmonics. Any possibility you are sleep watching TV and the pillow man has hypnotized you? Maybe unbeknownst to you, your hub was a prankster as a child and is reverting back to childhood pranks in his old age.

Dr. Fayez prescription. Try rebooting it by pulling the plug. If no success then boot it as follows: Open an upstairs window and toss it out into the back of your hubs pickup. Get a new "smarter" TV and if the problem persists, break down and buy one of Mr. Gag Me With a Spoon pillows and get sleep therapy.
