Getting an award for acting is Nothing like getting an award in science.
I’ve known and met a lot of actors and been on a few sets and the only thing I can say good about most of them is that they know how to read and look good whilst doing it.
Otherwise, like most professional athletes, a major portion of Hollywood actors are over paid, over sexed, narcissistic left wing hypocrites.
Getting paid a gazillion bucks should be enough award for anyone in the business of acting.

But what do I care. I rarely watch TV anyway and certainly not some awards ceremony for acting or singing.

Well, Bobby, just like anything else in life, we have choices and ours is to watch these awards ceremony.
Actually, I think many people today can think of numerous occupations where people are over paid. My wife was only paid $40 a day for being on the set of the movies she was an "extra" in. But, she did tell me that there was "food galore" to eat on the set. "Us extras sure didn't go hungry in-between takes." she also told me. I can actually hit the Pause button on our remote and stop right where she is at (twice) in Air Force One.

And, when it comes to Awards, what about the new saddles, buckles, boots and horse trailers that are given away at big rodeos. Along with the $100,000 each champion got at the American Rodeo.

Many Seniors don't think much of money, until they can't afford heart medicine they need. No matter who makes the big money, "money makes the word go around" or the old saying "money talks while everything else walks".

Yes, Hollywood actors get lots of money, but so does America's NFL Sweetheart/Son, Tom Brady. LOL

Awe, come on Faye, wouldn't you love to have the money they get. We sure would! Nice new: boat/trailer, house by a lake w/boat dock, new SUV, great vacations.
Then again, there are those that don't care about having that kind of money. But, we sure aren't those!

Ok, Bobby, if you were, somehow, offered an acting job in a Vietnam War movie, done a great job and was nominated for an Oscar and won it, you'd tell them "no you keep it and I have no idea why I'm even here (at the Oscars)".

IOW, actors and actresses deserve to be recognized for their acting abilities.

Number one, if I were offered a million bucks to “act” in a movie about Vietnam they could keep it because there is NOTHING that could in any way resemble what war was like in Vietnam. I’ve seen parts of a few of them and with the exception of one, they’re all just someone’s IDEA of how to sensationalize war.

Secondly, if I were in a movie and in a starring role and got paid a gazzilion bucks for my part in it, why the heck would I want to get all dressed up and go to some gala, get an 8 pound door stop and make some silly speech that a bunch of half loaded celebrities won’t remember the next day?
Moreover, a lot of those celebrities spend some major bucks prepping to go to an awards show with their speeches in their purses and pockets but don’t win anything but the gift bag and some free booze.

Heck, when it comes to speeches, I’d much rather get paid nothing and preach the Gospel. It’s real, there’s no acting in it and the reward is out of this world.

So, you don't think to highly of John Wayne's movie, The Green Beret? He done it to commemorate the Army Green Beret. I thought it was an excellent movie. And, what about Mel Gibson's movie, We Were Soldiers? Another excellent movie, to me anyway.

And, talking about the Gospel, what about any Christian/Christian based movies, like: The Passion of the Christ, The Shack, Risen, Courageous and others, including the classic Ten Commandments? The actors got paid big bucks and all kinds of awards were received for some of them. Those actors surely deserved honoring and recognition.

My Jump School class at Ft. Benning was IN the Green Beret. My entire company had to run not only our regular morning run but we had to do it 2 more times before everyone was happy and no, I didn’t like the movie or rather, I didn’t like the parts that I watched.

Bible based movies are notorious for the inaccuracies albeit I heard that the Passion was fairly well done.

Ya know Cody, I’ve won civilian awards for wrestling, Kenpo, pool, bowling and culinary excellence and military awards for whatever and not one single medal or trophy will buy me a cup of coffee or keep me healthy. I don’t do something for an award but for the end result of doing something well.

If I don’t care about the awards, trophies and medals I have won, then what makes anyone think I should be interested in what someone else wins particularly when they have already been paid handsomely for whatever it is they did?
I don’t see a bridge builder or a ditch digger or a carpenter winning any awards no matter how good they are. The garbage collector doesn’t get a medal nor does a guy who mows lawns for a living. Why should some huff and puff get an award for being able to read and look good on film?

Governor DeSantis recently signed a bill that reads, “classroom instruction by school personnel or third parties on sexual orientation or gender identity may not occur in kindergarten through grade 3 or in a manner that is not age-appropriate or developmentally appropriate for students in accordance with state standards.”

In response, a bunch of folks on the Oscars stood up and said "We're gonna have a great night tonight—and for you people in Florida, we're going to have a gay night. Gay gay gay gay gay gay."

You watch the "behind the scenes" stuff, and see that they "act" in 5 second snippets, which are edited and cobbled together, then backgrounds and a sound track are added to make you "feel continuity." It's truly nothing. If it weren't for unions, it would all be done by computer graphics and voice synthesizers.

What ever the case is, we will continue to watch these award ceremonies, tv and numerous movies. Have quite a collection of dvd movies.

Talk is still going on about the Will Smith slap on Chris Rock. Will has apologized up the ging/yang, but, what is done is done.

Will Smith slapped Chris Rock. Meanwhile in the real world, 21 people were shot and 4 killed this last weekend in Chicago.

Let’s see. 21 unknown people get shot and 1 celebrity gets slapped on public TV. Hmmmmm……I might have to think about which one is most important.

    Very true, Bobby.........VERY true!

Thanks for bringing that up. Seriously. But, the shootings/killings in Chicago just keep going on. The "slap" event/talk will die down, but Chicago's gang shootings/killings definitely won't. Just like all the crime that happens in NYC.

Will Smith has said that he and his wife don't discipline their kids because that would be too much like slavery.

    Meanwhile, here is his son:

I think the wrong guy got slapped.

The big story of the night was the Oscar hosts bashing Floridian parents for not wanting their 5 year old children to be indoctrinated into the homosexual lifestyle by the school system or by anyone else. Execs from Disney responded, saying that they intend to have at least 50% of the characters in kids' show be of the LGBTetc and minority persuasion. They specifically said they are there to promote the gay agenda in kids' shows.
