I still don't want tax dollars paying for abortions except in particular situations and never for late term 'abortions'. We have plenty of birth control measures available. But the law is the law.
However, with the news this morning, I see Biden so undermining the Supreme Court it is a little like January 6th. A coup to take power from the most important court of the land.

It may be part of the strategy to undermine the court they so carefully built into the "alternative legislature" now that they don't control it. According to the anti abortion folks, the leak has been traced to Sotomayor's office and her clerks, and they are calling for her resignation or impeachment. We'll see how it all shakes out, and it is bringing Democrats out who had been shrinking behind Biden. Both Dems and Reps have now been activated, but only the Democrats will be violent. Pelosi et al. are already ramping up the violnt demonstrations; the goal of the entire thing.

Just so everyone knows, even if this is true, it would not make abortion illegal, it would just return it to the states where it belongs. Roe v. Wade has been described as the worst legal decision since Dred Scot in 1857 by impartial legal scholars. A good decision is one that, once decided, goes away from the public notice. That this did not happen in either the Dred Scot case leading to a stronger abolitionist movement and the Roe case which lead to a strong anti-abortion movement demonstrate that both these are bad decisions. Abortion will still be legal in states like New York and California, but will not in Texas and Alabama. You can then move to the state that most closely reflects your belief on the matter.

I have to consider the recent legislation passed to outlaw abortion about the most hypocritical actions I can think of. Here's why:

People with money and/or connections are able to, and always have been able to get the accident fixed quickly. I wonder how many abortions the Trump family has paid for?

The thing that bothers me most, is that some of us seem to be more concerned about a blob of protoplasm about to get a heart beat, than about the real baby and toddler. It's easy enough to see how US compares with other countries here. we, the US, compares with other countries on mother and ba the by rates at birth, and death rates of toddlers:
We could https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_maternal_mortality_ratiodo mhttps://www.cia.gov/the-world-factbook/field/infant-mortality-rate/country-comparisonuch better with our babies and toddlers before we worry too much about abortion.

I already got a fundraising email from my post-redistricting Congress critter decrying this "...complete assault on our constitutional right..." She also fundraises on killing the Second Amendment.

When it comes to intellectual honesty, she fails on both counts.

Roe VS Wade was based on false testimony so it should be overturned and reintroduced only to the supreme court if factual testimony comes forth that affects all the states. Any case decided on false testimony should be thrown out and reheard by state courts first.

    Somehow I missed something here.
So, in it’s very essence you are saying that we need to abort the kid because we don’t take care of them if they are born anyway.
I mean, your analysis is very tightly wrapped in some decent rationalization but the bottom line is the same.
It’s like the black congressman from Louisiana speaking of “unwanted” babies who will by default turn into criminals and murders, “if we don’t kill them now we’ll just have to kill them later.”

How about we just add something to the abortion debacle. Hit the bottom and the top just to keep things even.
Since we don’t really take that good of care of seniors after the age of 80 anyway, let’s just kill ‘em off before they hit that age.
The rationalization would be that someone of age isn’t really adding to society and much more so is a liability to younger people so kill ‘em off.
Heck, Obama said to give seniors a pill when we get ill. In other words, forget the pacemakers, the liver transplants and the new hips because we won’t live long enough for it to be financially viable.

Just like your in vitro child is just protoplasm, an old person is just someone waiting to turn to dust and the closer we get to being dust the less useful we are. Young and old….Nuke ‘em!

While I don't agree with "late term abortion" we need to see / study the reasons a woman goes for this option.
About your taxes paying for abortions.......

    1) trust me, it will cost you less than paying for a child during 18 years.
    2) No every abortion is paid by somebody else taxes

    Joseph Carl,

Why you do you feel you have the right to change people's minds? Is not your body and you don't know the reasons a woman may have to abort a fetus.

I would love to find out how many of the pro-lifers are willing -w/o help from the government- to adopt all those kids they forced women to have.

See, if men could get pregnant abortion would be sacrosanct

That makes it sound lik e there is no other form of preventing women from being forced to have unwanted children, which is pretty ridiculous.
Besides simply refraining from sex, there are all kinds of contraceptives available for women, and even surgical procedures like having their tubes tied, or the husband having a vasectomy.
Doctors have always been able to recommend an abortion when it was medically necessary, so even that is not an issue.

When my mother was pregnant with me, her doctor discovered that she also had a large tumor which was growing and he wanted to remove it because it was dangerous to her life.
Since removing the tumor would have also meant terminating the pregnancy, he was basically saying that an abortion of the baby was necessary to save my mother’s life.

She was 40 years old, had no children, and this was her only chance, so she told the doctor that she wanted to try and finish the pregnancy for as long as possible, so that there was a small chance of me living.
Against his recommendation, that is what they did, and when the tumor got too large, then they did a caesarean operation, removed the tumor and delivered me.
My poor father was out pacing the halls of the hospital not knowing if he was going to have either a wife or a child by the end of that day.

Men always have opinions about abortion, but they have options that women do not have. It's easy to decide what OTHER PEOPLE should do, isn't it, when you can simply walk away and abandon responsibility? I am a "right to choose" person and I believe if you don't have the ability to get pregnant and bear a child, you have NO VOICE in this matter. (And by "this matter" I mean abortion, not Roe v Wade.)

I think this is one issue that can keep the GOP from those mid-term victories they are expecting. The women's vote could hinge on this.

Just couldn't resist a dig at Trump, eh? So tiresome.

I've carried and given birth to two babies... how about you? They were never "blobs of protoplasm" to me... ever. I could not have aborted any child of mine, but I believe every woman should have the right to make that decision for herself.

As you said, it has already been proposed. There is a thread about "Useless Eaters" and I guess that is what we are. Children are non-productive as well until they become employed, but they do have potential to support the government, so.... I think the Elite would like a lot of the children (not theirs) to join the military so they can send them to other places to fight people they don't like or generate profits for the M-I Complex. I have often said that one of the objectives of the pro abortion movement is to eliminate the Special Olympics.

I don't get into abortion discussions unless I know that the participants are reasonable people because, otherwise, the arguments are pointless, and everyone just ends up hating one another. I do find it amusing, though, that people who believed, barely a moment ago, that vaccinations should be mandated, are now crying about women's rights to make decisions about their own health and their own bodies. There is humor there.
